Re: How online players have killed Madden.
I hope it does. I would like to play MUT, so maybe this will get me back into it.

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
This is why I don't play online. It's very rare I actually play a competitive, fun game. I either crush kids who are really bad or play someone who does nothing but Cheese their way to victory. Glitches where they can block every kick, get every onside kick, etc. I'm glad EA finally did something about Nano blitzes, but I just play my friends offline and my favorite way to play has always been offline franchise mode.Comment

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
MUT is killing the game. As a standalone game mode, fine. But letting people buy cards creates a cash cow and now EA doesn't really care about any other mode aside from MUT. I don't get why people waste money buying fake football cards. I'm sorry, but it's pathetic that grown men do it. And I'm not trying to say people who play card games are losers. Everyone has their thing. But at least those adults still buying Pokémon cards have something to show for their money. People who waste money on MUT cards do not. They get 15 seconds of glory after using their hall of fame team against a 15 year old kid with a 60 OVR roster. And beating them on a mere last second field, at that.Comment

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
It's not just Madden, essentially every sports game online is like this.
People exploit certain players, or plays that they know will work consistently in order to win the game and move their rank up.
It's not just Madden, or really even just sports games, this is how online gaming works lol, it makes it that much sweeter when you beat them while playing the "right" way.Comment

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
It really is not fun. I get a game here and there against someone that is enjoyable, where they are calling different offensive plays out of different formations. And then I get other games, where they run 3-4 plays out of the game formation all game long. If I shut down two of the offensive plays, it leaves me completely vulnerable on the third play. Ironic that most of them use the Cowboys? :-p
I've actually had to make a conscious note of what plays beat this and the cover 4 version as well.
The HB screen and or the WR screens don't even work, which I find beyond ridiculous.
Anyone with a hint of knowledge or football accumen knows that any linenbacker can't get out there that fast to make a stop for loss or without the WR putting up at least 5 yards.Comment

What bothers me most is that it's consumers who don't see this, and tell others to quit complaining, or "nothing's going to be perfect" or "it's a game."
It's beyond perplexing to me. Whats the point of Quality Assurance if consumers continue to bail the devs out. It's as bad as Steam Greenlight.Comment

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
Im done playing online due to the glitch that gets a lineman through immediately to the qb while still having 7 guys in coverage. It comes out the cover 4 which I cannot believe thst this isnt a joke and how people think theyre good and actually earned their records with this garbage. Its pathetic.
All blitzes can be blocked this year, but an A gap nano in which the DT (not the LB, which is real football) runs in unblocked every play? It's ridiculous.
The counter for these is HB screen plays in which the HB doesn't wait and jets out for the pass immediately, or the "Motion Screen" plays in which he gets a running start.
There you go... Fair plays to counter cheese. Which still doesn't make it okay, btw.Comment

No motivation for them to change if people are purchasing (with real currency) coins (GAME currency) for the CHANCE (not even guaranteed) of getting a rare player.
***Mind you, you don't get to keep the player for the following year. Your cards become pointless and have no value whatsoever. Then, you have to start your MUT team all over again for MADDEN 17, then 18, then the same thing for 19, etc...
I'm saddened to see that people are so easily taken advantage of... EA will continue to take that easy money. Same for FIFA as well.
I'm hoping that one day before I'm dead, gamers will understand one thing:
Micro-transactions for $60 games is completely UNACCEPTABLE.Comment

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
Just played the worst game of madden I've ever played... opponent ran a nano on defense (I blocked 7, slide protected, pinch protected, everything you could think of) but Bruce Irvin would come in literally unblocked every play in about a second. Opponent ran wildcat on offense every single play and managed to sub in Russ at QB despite it being wildcat somehow. Ended up losing this game:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HGfEuTJRmTA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
There were a lot of things you could have done differently to improve your success... You can't play cover 6 (putting your corners who are suppose to be pinching) in deep blues. Their first step will be back, so they are already at a disadvantage for a run.
What I will say is I I think it's terrible that he can run a modified option play out of Wildcat Power play. But you did a good job bottling it up.
My next question is, how did he get Russell Wilson as the QB in the wildcat? Can you formation sub that? My reasoning is because it would pretty much make you susceptible to a Wildcat pass play as you would just have to read how dumb the defense is being on the play (scramble, pass). I'll have to check it out, as this is my opinion on just this play at face value.
Cover 4 DE/DT/NT nanos are BS. Like I said earlier, pretty much every blitz can be blocked this year, but it seems that nanos are incredibly rampant this year. It's pretty bad.
I'm glad you all haven't fallen victim to this glitch yet. As far as I know, I'm the only one who has in Madden 16 as I can't find anyone else who has posted about it online. There is no counter to this thing other than hoping your opponent doesn't know how to do it and isn't going to throw a tantrum just because he/she lost. This video is Madden 15, but it can still be done this year. I just wanted to give a perspective for those who haven't seen it before:

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
I agree, but this a "bail out" for developers who do not put the effort in fixing the issues with their games. The "well, don't play online" argument effectively removes them from responsibility of fixing their games for the consumer's sake.
What bothers me most is that it's consumers who don't see this, and tell others to quit complaining, or "nothing's going to be perfect" or "it's a game."

I have an online league and we try to set a strict style of game play and follow through making members follow our guidelines.
It is still a challenge. The human element is very difficult to manage!!!SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
I just got bored and decided to chuck it up, in a real game (ex: a league game) I'd never do that. Wasn't having any fun playing against that guy so I had to find some way to enjoy the game.
If you want I can give you the video of the second half where I couldn't do anything on offense due to Bruce destroying me every play, I was running plays to beat cover 3 (seams, curls, screens, etc) but Irvin would just sack me or hit me in a second. On defense I was doing everything possible to stop the wildcat (4-4, man to man, engage eight, QB contain, QB spy, 4-3 wide 9, 46 normal, base align, you name it) but he would always run at some odd angle then pitch it. If I tried to user the pitch he'd keep it or call a pass play to Jimmy Graham out of wildcat.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
This is an argument that takes place in America every day. Having freedom versus allowing stupidity/bad things to occur. Without getting too political I mean that in society and Madden/games there's always a certain amount of freedom people are given and some are always going to choose to abuse that freedom.
Yes there are things society/EA can do to cut down on stupidity but at the end of the day with freedom comes the freedom to act stupid and do awful things, be it in real life or in a game.
As others have said here also, this isn't limited to Madden, it's throughout the entire internet when it comes to gaming. Yes some things are more obvious than others but people on here seem to act as if Madden is special in that regards and its not.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: How online players have killed Madden.
Just to be clear, I hate the cheese as well.
But my point in the above post is to point out that restricting and/or demanding EA "fix the game" is futile.
Instead we need to ask EA to give us the tools to discern who we are playing. A rating system, whether by user, or CPU, or both, is the key to separating the grown-ups from the kids.
And I speak of how people play, not their age.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
