Re: Weird regression issue in CFM

ALSO, I just remembered this from last year after messing around in owner mode. Last year regression was an issue too (but more age related), with a guy like Palmer dropping -12 in every THA category after year 1.

In my limited time with the game last year I recalled that signing a "world class" trainer as an owner helped water down these massive regression issues. Of course there aren't enough world class trainers to go around, so it only really fixes it for the user team.

Just now, going into the staffing part of owner mode the initial help screen popped up and it stated "Trainers determine how much a player's ratings drop when he comes back from a serious injury."

Basing off of the fact that last year the injury part didn't matter, I am going to assume the same can be said for this year. Even though it claims it only matters for a guy coming off of a serious injury, I am willing to bet that all player regression is linked to your trainer and his "regression" rating, regardless of injuries.

So that's my theory. Those of you seeing big drops in ratings, try going into owner mode and hiring a world class trainer to see if it helps resolve the issue.

Also keep in mind that maybe injuries do have something to do with it, but the game doesn't really differentiate between serious injuries. Meaning that if your QB gets injured for 2 quarters when it comes to the regression at the end of the season it treats it just like a ruptured disc injury.

        So I just got bit.

In year 2 of SOS we accidentally simmed a week too far and after the sim week my qb (Osweiler) lost 5 awareness points. It seems to have brought him back to where he started at beginning of season, or maybe that's a coincidence?

this was one of my possible theories as well. That for some reason guys get defaulted back to what they started at. I may be wrong about this, but it also seems like most people who bring this up as an issue are experiencing it in online CFMs?

Ill have to investigate the other guys in my league and see if the players who regressed last season randomly only regressed to where they started from

So I've been hit three times

We are still in regular season year 2

First I was hit with an awareness regression for Brock after a sim loss, brought him back down to here he started the season. Then I was hit with a deep accuracy loss after a loss on the road to Jacksonville where Brock had four turnovers but also accounted for 6 TDs (wild game).

Just had another hit. Win on the road in San Diego and Brock went from 96 injury to 92. He was sacked 6x. I haven't put any points into injury so it seems extra random, unless taking sacks is designed to lower injury and this is working as intended?

Very strange. A little frustrating. I'm considering drafting a qb even tho I have put almost two seasons of game prep into Brock. The regressions are just kinda buzzkill.

Note, it's happening instantly, like right after the games, not even happening during advance.

Any thoughts on this? Is it a glitch this year? Maybe tied to coach type or triggered by using a custom roster or something? Just totally random?

It seems to be backup/mediocre type QBs that people are building up to be really good that take this hit too. It's like the game is looking at it and is like "this guy isn't supposed to be this good. Let's fix it"
This is how it looks. I have Matt Stafford in online CFM and it has happened multiple times. Right at the end of the regular season. He lost like 10 MAC before the playoffs. I worked 2 seasons to get his acc up and lost MAC when the playoffs hit. This is the 3rd post season of our Cfm. I was watching carefully the first 2 seasons and no regression. I thought the issue might have been fixed. But I didn't make the playoffs. This season I made the playoff, after my wild card game, I noticed he'd lost 11 Mac (I didn't check before the game, but had to happen between week 16 and wildcard week.) definitely some kind of glitch. Stafford had over 4000 yds passing and over 100 qbr.

CFM is so broke this year I cant even get into it and I want to so bad but won't because it angers me so much, all the stupid things that happen with regression , I have done lots of testing and always the same garbage.
They have made this game for online gamblers now with there Mut casino. Why do you think there are so many game modes surrounding building teams with pack cards?

working great for me. no regression that is not realistic in older players.

Re: Weird regression issue in CFM

I've seen the QB accuracy regression at end of season happen to multiple QBs in online CFMs. Each time happening at ages 22-28. Seems to happen more often if you miss goals but I've see it happen when the goals are reached as well.

Haven't payed too much attention to HB regression or seen anything too major there. The QB regression was pretty random & I never could figure out what exactly would cause it.

I 1st noticed bc I had started Austin Davis season 1 for the Rams. I started him the last 7 games & went 7-0 clinching a wild card birth. He had 11 TDs & 7 Ints. He lost -2 SAC -11 MAC & -4 DAC that off-season after we advanced.

I had even wasted 1/2 my game prep on him only to see him end up worse that he started. He was only 27 or so at the time.

I also saw the same thing happen with multiple other QBs: Cam Newton, etc.
