He writer didn't mention anything about pass blocking and pass rushing, I'm afraid this crucial part of the game didnt receive much attention this year besides more logic tuning, I still have hope one of the game play blogs will be about this part of the game, but everything else that has come out today sounds amazing.

Really interested in the new kick meter as it seems that your kicker/punter's ratings will play a big role in it. The ball physics are a nice surprise as well. When reading the thing about tackle battle they mention breaking out of a gang tackle. I thought it's only for the 1 on 1 stand up tackle?Comment

Was just asking because this was in the Gameinformer article "Tackle Battles are also controlled by ratings this year. If you're being gang tackled you have a short window to hit a specific button prompt to break out of the gang tackle. This was done automatically last year. Hitting the Tackle Battle button also applies to defenders making the tackle."Comment

Good times with that game for sure. So many little things done well.Comment

The game informer article is wrong.
Went back and read the EA blog, and it does mention ratings playing a part in the frequency of tackle battles as well. Specifically mentions bigger backs getting them more often when appropriate.Comment

If this stuff works as advertised, I can see a lot of hate coming from a large segment of the online crowd. I can just hear the crying now when those pattern-matched zones eat up all those routes that used to be gimmes.
In that scenario I hope they stand their ground and don't tune the greatness out of the game. They're on the right track dragging everyone into the realm of real football."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment

"Tackle Battles. This is a twitch mechanic that gives uers the ball the ability to influence the outcome of tackles as both the ball carrier or the defender making the tackle.
Whenever a defender and ball carrier get locked up in a standing tackle, a random face-button will appear on screen – the first player in the tackle battle to hit that button, wins the tackle battle. For the defender, this means completing the tackle and for the ball carrier, a win is breaking the tackle. The size of the timing window and the frequency of tackle battles are determined by the ratings and styles of both players in the tackle battle. A bruiser running back is more likely to get a tackle battle with a linebacker than a cornerback. "
Sounds like a mechanic for users to make an input on a very specific event, stand up collision; the ratings and styles determine the majority of the event, from when they happen and who has the advantage, by timing when the button to be pressed appears, or maybe how long u have to press it once it does appear?Comment

Considering the Battle tackle appears to be the biggest concern at this point, I would hope that the next video would highlight this feature to help give people a true feel for what is happening with this new event.Comment

I think I saw that Clint will have a blog on it so I wouldn't be surprised if we maybe see that tomorrow just to try and cool down the "chaos" if you want to call it that lol.Comment

Lol. I been posting on this forum for 3-4 years, now, I think. And, it's amazing to have seen the tone change with Rex's team. I was disappointed with 12. But, I was personally pleasantly surprised with 13 and saw the change happening (I know most don't love this version, but for me, the physics part of this game was great, but the animations were a bit off/glitchy). But, man, there was so much hate on this forum for madden, which at the time, I was surprised to see. I thought I was the only one that thought it was leaps behind where it should be, and I thought all 'maddenites' actually wanted the game to play as bad as it did. Of course, some still do, lol. They like the arcadey feel more than sim. But, it feels good that right now the biggest issue with the initial release blogs is a tackle battle that prob isn't that bad. I, personally, don't like the button push stuff, myself. But, the fact that this has become the biggest gripe (without even seeing it) actually means that madden is in SUCH A BETTER PLACE than it was a few years ago. Again, hats off to Rex and his team for trying to make a sim football game. I'm looking forward to the new changes in 17 (well, except for the tackle battle. Lol).Comment
