This goes a long way to that true immersion for football junkies.

I'm all aboard the hype train for 17. Yeah the players still run funny but at least they should run in the right direction. Yeah this will not be PERFECT, what is, but they are trying. So kudos to the team, keep it up.
I've been trying to replicate that Dan Quinn/Pete Carroll single high scheme for a few years now. This one talked a lot about the variations of cover 2. I hope there's more info on the different types of Cover 3 to come. I'm really looking for that Buzz Mable concept used to defend trips.

Good stuff so far, though. It's huge that the vertical seams are finally going to be matched.

The different purple routes will change cover 3. They should also have more information on pattern matching and deep zone.

So which one is best for stopping crossing and drag routes?

Oh, yeah, no doubt. I noticed that right away. I'm talking about the variations like Buzz and Sky. Will the Free Safety play center field more realistically? If it's a Sky call will he split the difference between the vertical and post routes being run at him? Will the corners in that press bail technique react differently, etc.?

And of course that Buzz Mable concept used vs. trips where the corner to the single receiver side is manned up, while Cover 3 Buzz concept is played to the three receiver side.

Man so much stuff to take in from this blog, and I love it.
I kinda hope when I start a franchise I will have the option to start with preseason so I can spend the games relearning how to read Madden defenses.

On the negative side, it doesn't seem like effective double teams and bracket coverage have been added. I love the improvements to zone coverage but would like to see improvements to man coverage.

I've always been found of fire zones in real football and it is good to see that they can be more effective in this Madden.

One question I am left with, what has changed as far as presnap adjustments? I caught the part about underneath/over the top,but has anything changed as far as number of options?

There's supposed to be another blog pertaining to this coming soon and I'm excited to see how they've changed those as well.

The zone coverage is looking really, really good; I just hope there will be time, pre-snap, to make adjustments when playing against the CPU; as it is right now, playing against the CPU is like going against a constant "hurry up" offense.

This would be great to tweet at a dev.

Same here. Franchise mode taking leaps forward instead of small improvements is the difference between waiting until this is on EA Access or buying on day one.

...but I do have some concerns rolling through my over worried mind.

Number 1 - will they have this tuned (and players properly rated) so that you can tell/feel/see the difference between two players with similar OVR ratings and yet a disparity in their zone coverage ratings???

Will PRC finally impact the game in a more sophisticated way? Will having a choice between a fast young OLB and a savvy veteran who lost a step but has higher PRC and ZCV ratings finally be a decision that makes you consider playing the better technician???

These things could be implemented exactly as intended nd still be a disastrous disappointment for some of us SIM leaning peeps if proper weight is not attributed to certain aspects of said implementation...

                        ...fingers crossed
Great post, I think you nailed it. Im hoping that everything in execution looks as good as it does on paper

We have what you are looking for. There is a cover 3 mable and a cover 3 hard flat. But the real beast is cover 3 match.

I like cover 2 hard flat against the flat and drag routes. Cover 3 Match also does a great job of taking away over the middle crossing routes.

                              Thanks Rex.

Is it true that the implementation of using the new pattern matching zone coverages will take away some of the concerns of the requested coverage assignments?

Hey Rex, do we have any coverages that work best against a 3x1? Do coverages change responsibility depending if the offense is in and even set (2x2) or an odd set (3x1)? For example in college we played a Cover 7 against 3x1 sets. But we would audible to a straight Cover 5 (it's a cover 2 with soft squat corners) if the team was in an even set.
