Re: Designer Blitz Improvements Video
Yeah I wanted to see how defenders reacted. Devs said the days are gone where defenders are clueless to the acknowledgement of a QB scramble. Defensive lineman are better than ever at shedding blocks to get to the QB who begins to scramble. Also a simple click of the R3 will send a defender in coverage towards the QB with quicker reaction.
Interested to see how this affects coverage.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Video - Designer Blitz Improvements
I have to say, I LOVED that I didn't see a single defender standing flat footed and hunched over. Looks so much more realistic this way.
The pocket still needs a lot of work. They really need to decouple the D and O line players. You can see the edge rusher on the right of the screen just run directly into the tackle. You can tell that they are attached to each other under the hood. That kills the line play. I really hope they will fix this next year.Comment

Re: Designer Blitz Improvements Video
Yeah, looks like the left defensive end got stoned walled by the offensive tackle and the DE was about to Reggie White club the left tackle off of him for a free run at the Qb. Maybe 2-3 players in the NFL should be able to pull that move off. Seems like the pocket push may be hit or miss, not consistent on every passing play unfortunately, but we'll have to wait and see more.Comment

Re: Designer Blitz Improvements Video
Love everything I've seen zone wise but this is my biggest fear. Upon release we KNOW there is gonna be a very vocal crowd whether they are sim or arcade players or casuals or vets who scream "zone defense is too good!" I hope they devs teach people how to read defenses instead of just nerfing it. I remember this one happening one year in NCAA
Nice catch. Also looks like it's backwards on one of them as well.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Video - Designer Blitz Improvements
I really liked that 5-minute breakdown, especially the discussion of the types of plays.
I've been wanting to be able to run a man/zone concept for a while, so I loved that the Cover 2 play on the bottom of the page had zone coverage on the offense's right side and man coverage on the back side.
For me, that's a big strategic addition, especially if you have 1 matchup you really like at CB but not a whole set of matchups all the way across the board.
To fully take advantage of this strategy, we would need individual matchup assignment abilities, but still, this is a good take-away re: defensive playbook expansion.Comment
