I like to user the fastest/most agile guy between Safety and LB. I like to bat the CPU (and Users) into throws, so that acceleraton and change of diretion is KEY. Players like, Bobby Wagner, Mycle Kendricks, Ed Reed (back in the day), Eric Berry, Devin Mccourty, Ryan Shazier were always my got to players.

Safety all day err-day.
I love biting on pump fakes and underneath routes and leaving deep passes wide open for long TDs.Comment

Re: Which position do you "user" against the CPU?
RDT or occasionally the RDE...
I too, am a "liability" when playing any other position...
I used to "switch to swat" from the DT to the DB closest to the ball on pass plays in the PS2 days, but that doesn't work as reliably as it used to...
It now results in being taken out of the play / burned more often than in the past...
Using the DL "Special Moves" and / or taking up two of the CPU's OL to free up other rushers versus the pass and freeing up LBs / Safeties in the run game is more satisfying than one may think...Comment

Re: Which position do you "user" against the CPU?
On both Madden and NCAA, I pretty much exclusively use the free safety. Every once in a while, if I feel like getting after the QB and I have a blitz called, I'll use one of the blitzers. But yeah, I feel the FS gives me the most range to effect both the passing game and the running game.
I'll tell you what, there is no greater feeling on video game football than back-pedaling and covering someone with a DB and either swatting a pass away or baiting the CPU into throwing you an INT. Love it.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Same here with a very occasional exception of controlling a blitzing ILB.Comment

Re: Which position do you "user" against the CPU?
How effective a User is with a Safety or Linebacker is a key indicator every year of Madden's progress from a gameplay/A.I. perspective. For most of the game's history Users have been able to ignore their assignment, and roam all over the field disproportionately disrupting plays, especially in games against the CPU.
When people who use those players have to play assignment football basically every play or get shredded on defense, then we'll know that the game has taken a giant step forward on the gameplay front.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Which position do you "user" against the CPU?
Always pick a CB, mostly CB2 as when I play an offline franchise with two buddies they control CB1 and FS. Got used to playing on the left side of the screen, so play mostly there. In NCAA where it is easier to set formations, usually set my CB to play the short side of the field to be more involved in the action. Get burned, but also average 5 picks a season. Only time I switch off of the CB, is if he's tired and then will take a different position for a flavour change....usually get lit up in all the other positions, but it's fun.
On offense with my buddies, I only play receiver with one guy at QB and the other at HB.Comment

Re: Which position do you "user" against the CPU?
Yeah, that's interesting the op rocks the CB, mostly. I would argue that's the most difficult position to play, often times simply due to where u r on the screen (far left of far right - I use the 'standard' cam mostly on D and this makes cbs slightly off screen sometimes). And, if u just miss a route, it can be hard to play catch up and u can give up big plays. But, I've played CB a little with M16, and it's manageable. And, if I'm getting burned, absolutely, by the same WR over and over, I'm controlling the CB to shut it down. But, my overall play scheme/style is def MLB as my primary with standard cam. I like to control the middle of the field and feel like my whole D sort of 'responds' to what I'm doing best when I'm in the middle. I play both Safeties and, again, on any given play, it TE is beating me, or specific WR, I'll play that side of the field when I see where they line up. With the new D cam, I also play any linemen. It's hard to describe why/when I play as DT vs DE, but it's one of those things, with M16, I feel like u actually do/can play NFL strategy to some degree. So, depending on the overall flow of the game, I may say to myself, 'get pressure up the middle.' So, I play DT with D cam and try to blow up the middle. Sometimes, I want to be my best pass rusher and rush from the outside. I have to say, M16, specifically, really gives u good options for playing any positions. Some people, I guess, are better at one or the other. But, I def like to play all positions throughout a game depending on situations and overall flow of the game. But, again, the one position I prefer not to play is CB, simply because a slight delay in reaction during coverage can be an instant TD. And, that's just not fun!! Lol.

I have seen the CPU QB do more over throws on attempts to deeper receivers just because I covered their HB out in the flat or the TE in the flat.
On 3rd and long/medium situations, if the CPU uses a RB, I always control a LB to the RB side to cover the screen, which the CPU tends to use a lot in those situations.Last edited by 4thQtrStre5S; 08-03-2016, 10:53 AM.Comment
