So a question as I get ready to make Browns playbook.

I'll tell you I'm planning to make them how they call plays atypically IRL.

So are you other playbook makers trying to emulate what teams do IRL more so than what you are trying to make the CPU do correctly?

Been following each post and seeing guys post different results with playbooks but Sliders and such affect gameplay success. I'll be doing it on Default all pro

Also with hue Jackson being 1st year coach I may not use Browns book unless I find enough variety as hue is a going to have a open book for playcalling

Shots to Gordon/ Pryor (screens as well) Coleman on unique routes underneath-- crowell (Jeremy hill) power run plays and Duke (Gio Bernard jr) can't forget barnidge blanket routes and redZone bails

Browns may not be best on paper but they have a lot of "prove it ways to call plays on offense.

That and given fact the Browns have had 45yard pass play each preseason game they will be vertical and quick hitter offense - with smash mouth run as well as wide sweeps

I went with "ideal" for now!
So Franchise doesn't have that trait option, but Play now does?
I wonder if the issue with qbs not scrambling is also related to traits missing/and or not working as labeled.

That is super weird traits are missing in CFM.

Yes, they(aggressive force passes at least) are missing. EA bring back our Qbs playing to their traits lol

while in-game, is "Strategy" the choice based off personal game plan ?

I assume that suggestions is from cpu and community is from other humans opinions.

Huge fan of this project. I had custom playbooks working M11 pre-patch and it the affect on gameplay was great.

Picked up a second controller today and downloaded a few of Vann's (thanks!) playbooks. As I expected, the custom books are associated to my main profile. Do I need to create a second profile for the second controller to be able to assign them in Play Now and CPU?

It is absolutely comical that we can assign playbooks to the CPU in this game. Almost as comical as the amount of Four Vertical plays in every teams playbook.

I am putting up a PS-4 Defensive PB in the Vault. Was made from default 4-3 generic book.

Key Word will be: DVR43PB

I hope an expert can take a look and let me know how it can be improved and if necessary how to attach stars to certain plays per situation in Game Plan.

Hey Vann,

Having some challenges getting the CPU run game going with my Vertical Playbook. I'm taken out the stretch, counter, and base plays from shotgun.

I have a lot of dives and zones.

Are there any types of runs that the CPU tends to do well with? (Out of any formation)

The tosses, sweeps, and draws work pretty well especially with dives mixed in as you get caught in watching the middle and surprise! I also put powers and I'll use the misdirection a counters with plays with a guy (te or wr) in motion...

1st- I find plays that get superstar touches with primary or maybe a good 2nd route (if a receiver) or runs.

2nd - I'll put best run and pass plays and go thru every formation and add plays to appropriate situation (sometimes a play fits in 6-7 scenarios sometime just 1.

3rd - I put in special plays (team specific) like heavy Panther for panthers, double stack Seahawks and rate them higher than others stars. I'll also try to add more team specific plays like for example the Seahawks with bubble screens, wr screens, read option, playactions with te dragging behind line and again rate stars higher.

4th - I'll now star rate all plays. I'll do runs 1st then I'll rate all the passes.

5th- I'll go test in game. Then go back and rerate and make a few tweaks to balance an area out. I might see a play that shouldn't be in a situation or a play that's overused. I'll also look at all the plays where qb threw it away because no one open (curls, verts, etc).


So try to get scheme specific the best we can 1st but also make CPU as effective as it can be as well. Defense I tried to go all scheme. Dallas cover 2, Seahawks cover 1 and cover 3, steelers blitzing, cardinals 7 db's, etc...

I didn't want to read through the whole thread, so if this is asked and answered I apologize.

I've never been one that is good at play-calling for madden. I can never gauge a good game plan, so I usually use coach suggestion every couple plays while mixing in a variety of random plays. I would use suggestion every play but it seems like it is the same cycle of plays over and over. I get sick of calling the same stuff all the time. Will these custom play-books also offer better suggestions for a player like me? If not, are there any customs out there someone can suggest or a way to improve the suggestions offered(I'm on PS4)?

ok redid some more work with my Rams PB. Fixed a few of the situations i kinda messed up last time. Added back and weighed the runs better. Still worried Goff won't look mid/deep though. I tried to cut out lots of plays with short routes in longer down/distance. As always, work in progress.

Just finished half of the league up... Will probably wrap up the rest of them in a week or so... Reminder these are strictly for CPU, haven't tried them as a user relying on suggestions/strategy picks...

Got rid of most four vertical plays that plagued the game plan... Assigned all plays to 1st/2nd/3rd down except for running formations, excluded them from 3rd and long/medium... Every play has a half star so that any play can be called at any time... I'm seeing them still play situations and not just randomly calling any play regardless of situation... The call variety is almost like playing a user who doesn't abuse money plays because you never know what they're calling...

Let me know how they play out for you... Admittedly I only played one full game after getting a feel for how to make the books... Here's hoping that the gameplay matches the theory! That AND the game doesn't crash....
