Work is no problem for me. But playing behind the wife's back is a problem. She hates that I play Madden. She doesn't get it. I have to sneak away to my "cave" to play Madden and if it goes on for hours, she throws a hissy fit which drives me nuts.

Shoot I played Madden every day since release and the wife was right there with me a few times. Now I do prefer when she's not around because usually I'm up in the frog and she's downstairs. Since we were downstairs with the baby though, I brought the PS4 down. #winning

I was actually lucky enough to have the day off without using a vacation or sick day. But only because we have to alternate working weekends ( me and two others) and the company we work for wont let us get OT. So we get to choose two days off that we want to take during the week, of our two week pay period. I worked the weekend before madden came out, so guess when i took off? And still have my vacation and sick days to boot.

I did. I earn the days and PTO can be used to take a day off for something I enjoy. Madden happens to be something I enjoy. Now if you are taking off and have 2 PTO days left in the year, I can see the argument, because you got four months in the calendar year. but if you got plenty of time, why not? Would she be against it if you took off to do something for her or with her?

I took off, i just got another week of vacation added to my time at the company so i didnt know what to take the rest of my days for so i spent one to set up the CFM league for a bunch of us

If I'm taking a day off in August, I'm at the golf course or the beach or maybe the ball game or on a long bike ride. No way am I taking a day off for a video game, especially one that won't be properly patched or tuned until December. That said, I'd have no problem taking a day off when the snow flies and the product is complete.

I'm in my mid-40's, an AVP, have a wife and 13 year old...and I still developed an acute case of "Madden-itis" that Tuesday.

Some people say life is too short to waste time on such things, to which I take that adage and flip it around. Yeah, life is too short. I work hard, if I'm able and want to take a day off to play way too much Madden the day it comes out, I'm damn well going to do so!
