    Quarters Coverage

This thread is for those of us who want to use and master Quarters coverage(Cover 4) in madden by learning all the variations and how to replicate them to the best of our ability in Madden 17. Quarters brings great versatility in stopping both the run and deep passes.

One of the key sources I know on the Cover 4:

I like to hot route the safeties to hook zones to simulate Cover 4 Robber. Some people you might be able to beat with a simple Cover 4, but some of the better opponents I like to try and bait by showing them Cover 4, spreading and backing up the defense, and then hot routing the safeties to hook zones and using the play underneath direction to get the underneath defenders to hit the hard flats. I think it follows the direction found in the link posted above, on how to properly bait the QB.

I also love Nickel Dog MEG out of the nickel 2-4-5 A Gap. It actually looks very similar to the pictures of Cover 4 MEG you can find linked above.

Cover 2 Show 4 is another obvious one I guess. Would love any and all suggestions as well as descriptions of how certain setups work and if their strengths and weaknesses are just like the real life counterpart.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Quarters Coverage

I was testing in practice mode the other day and the safeties really react to the run fast in cover 4. Much faster than two deep.

I wish there was more pattern matching out of it but. It can work well for a play to mix in with other two deep looks

You basically created cover 2 invert. Make sure to sure one of those safeties to protect the deep middle

        Re: Quarters Coverage

I've been avoiding Cover 4 because I didn't expect the safeties to attack the run well at all in Madden. I'll test it out tomorrow, because Quarters should actually be quite versatile.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Don't forget quarter-quarter-half (cover 6), and you can easily create cover 4 solo vs trips, just man up the solo side wr.

Right but If I recall correctly they still had their Cover 4 style run fit, which might no be available to the base Cover 2 invert. I'm not sure. Also, yes, there should be plenty of other types of coverages that overlap with what is intended with Quarters. The link lays out the certain ones that possibly act like Cover 3 sky or a Hybrid cover 2.

I guess my point is that I would like to gather all of them that are related to and can supplement Quarters coverage.

Changing at least one of the safeties to hook zones is something I have just starting doing recently as well. It just got too annoying watching how deep those safeties stay even when not being threatened by a #2 vertical route. Especially if there is only a single WR side, or 1 WR with a TE on the line, I will hot route the safety to a Hook. The new middle read LB zone works pretty well at walling that TE if he runs a Seam or deep post, and the Safety being in a hook zone makes a nice potential robber/bracket on the outside WR.
I just got sick of seeing the 1/4 safety (both the CPU and my players) standing there with no other threat and watching as the outside WR ran a Dig/Post for a reception right in front of them.
