Re: WR blocking is still awful

Not having this issue, WR/TE/HB Screens are all apart of my offense, I play 32 man CFM.

Having WR's with 50+ RBK <--- (how well they create a lane) is a must, and if you can get 55 IBL+ <--- (how long they hold the block) then you are setting yourself up for success.

I regularly create 10, 15, 20+ yard gains by having these as a part of my offense. Another key factor is knowing what defenses to run them against, and also having more blockers, or at least equal blockers to defenders. That is often an over-looked aspect of the screen game.

They intentionally made outside blocking by WRs worse this year because it has been OP for years. Not engaging could be for a couple reasons, possibly awareness, possibly RB, possibly because they aren't supposed to start run blocking until the catch is actually made.

I will say WR screens actually work this year if ran against the right fronts which is refreshing to see. In past years it seemed like it was almost a forgone conclusion they'd be blown up.

A lot of cpu behavior in this game is response to button input by human player. Pressing the sprint button signals blockers to disengage and to not try to engage. Try an outside run without sprint and see your downfield wr running toward someone to block, then press sprint and watch him change direction to avoid contact. Sprint should only be used with a clear path and then let go of when you want blockers to engage down field. I am going to test sacks as I believe it may be the pushing of the x button to dive at the qb that signals the qb to throw the ball resulting in an out of bounds throw or the ball to come out as you hit him resulting in the backfield incompletion.
