As a former QB myself, I love the attention this topic is finally receiving. I couldn't agree more with the OP. The footwork, as stated above, is also baffling at times. Just fire up 17 and roll out to the left with a right handed QB. Try to throw on the run to the left and look at the footwork. The animations there do not resemble anything a QB above middle school level was taught on a roll out. I've seen QB's even do a strange spin and shuffling of feet before starting the throwing animation. It's very odd. Some of the animation has improved, but it's frustrating to see how little it has changed over the years. Attention must be paid to the finer details of the sport, and in turn you will receive a game that is as fun to watch as it is to play.

Madden animation started regressing with the PS3 and 360 versions. They had such a good foundation on PS2. What happened?

Agree completely. I play NCAA 07 and madden 05 and just wish we had QB animations like those again.

Great post Strawberry and spot on.

Madden is lacking in QB animation areas and hopefully they will be added sooner rather than later.

I agree with Sage, they need to spend a year with animations.

Also hoping this receives some traction with Twitter, that's how Duece's gained attention with Rex.

PS2 Maddens is still king. I went back and played a few games and it's such a shame that a game as old as Madden 2004 looks more realistic than today's game. Especially the running animations.

Really great Post!! The QB throwing animations have been a blight on an otherwise good looking game. The QB looks like he's trying to shot-put the ball rather than throwing it. If Frostbite can't help this, then we won't see anything new this generation.
