The game releases in 3 weeks not 2. Ea does have a marketing department. The game I'm helping with is an extension of a multi billion dollar
Enterprise.

I answered the question you posed but it got quickly buried. I do not think you (or EA as we now know) is hiding the game you're working on b/c as you stated, no one "formally" knows it exists yet. You can't 'hide' something from someone if they don't know you have it in the first place.

You are still developing your game. It's incomplete. Madden is wrapped up, discs are probably done. It is "apples and oranges" IMO in that regard.

Lol!! You know I am too but let's worst case scenario this. Let's say the game absolutely sucks. It's takes a step back from 17 and I hate the game while playing it on access.

I'll just cancel my preorder and move on. It's no loss to me. It's no loss to most people.

The game has probably only been gold for a week or so at this point. My point remains the same though. I get that people want to see the game. I do. I just don't think that it matters.

When they release videos is not going to effect if you buy the game or not. If they release videos next Tuesday and people like them, People will buy it. If they hate them, people will cancel preorders or will wait until Ea access to buy the game.

Absolutely. I think people forget sometimes that just because you pre-order something doesn't mean you have to purchase it. I enjoyed 17 for what it was so I'll probably be picking it up when I get a chance as well...

What does "hiding" mean to most of you guys? I've seen game companies hide games. Hiding a game is putting a embargo on footage until after release. It's preventing websites from reviewing the game until after release. That isn't the case here.

This isn't hiding the game. Everyone will get a chance to see videos of the game before the 22nd. There will be ea access screens and footage. There will be YouTube videos and Twitch streams. No one is buying the game sight unseen.

Now it's possible that the game will suck but waiting until 2 weeks before release to release videos isn't hiding the game.

Maybe ridding isn't the word for it, and I will admit that. But I look at the EA Sports portfolio for the '18 season. I see NHL 18 has had an open/closed beta, NBA Live 18 will have a demo in 8 days. Not sure what FIFA is doing pre-release. But then I see Madden and it is August 3rd and I haven't seen any substantial non-off camera footage of gameplay.

I get that NHL is probably doing server testing, load balancing with the new mode. Why wouldn't MUT want to do that with their MUT Team play? IDK... Again I will admit maybe hiding isn't the best term but from my perspective it makes me raise an eye brow.

Agreed. Fifa has tons of footage out including a 20 minute uninterrupted video of high quality gameplay from earlier this week during a FUT live stream. Madden used to have Youtube videos and livestreams and this year there's nothing. If they're not hiding they're at least getting their Splinter Cell on and being very very stealthy...

If they are hiding something, doesn't that push the release date back?

If they are hiding something, doesn't that mean will come out like NBA Live 14, be cancelled , lose a ton of customers, lose a ton of money and possibly the NFL license?

I concur I'm not happy with the current set up, but I can live with it.

Hiding something is a totally different animal then not putting out early video for other various reasons mentioned.

Hiding means the game is broken. Imo. But I guess that's what we are all really disagreeing on to begin with.

Lol, actually you have an 'incomplete' product still being developed at this point. EA's product is a wrap. I would say you are not hiding anything at this point since no one even 'formally' knows it exists. Are you working on a sports game?

The drama will really hit when those who do not like the game want their money back after they pre-ordered instead of waiting a week to see whether the feedback is good or not. That's one thing I will never understand....

I dont really care about the gameplay videos, like you said they won't change my view either way either. What I need to see before I spend a penny on the game is whether all the hoopla was worth it and whether I should just wait and get it on discount or wait for M19

I sure hope so! I'm basically buying the game regardless at this point because I'm in a CFM league so I'm obviously hoping for the best, but it concerns me to not see anything until this late. Rex has been legit and open his whole time with Madden throughout the years and has given us no reason to doubt him. If the game didn't switch engines and Fifa didn't have so many flaws making the same transition last year I wouldn't be nervous without gameplay.

Great point. I actually worry about that. I think this was actually expressed by fellow OSers last season about Madden 18

The thing is, didn't FIFA 17 get rave vid previews?

I thought it did. Which in case, the video preview on YouTube really didn't tell the whole story.
