What the hell with the EA Access?

Okay, so I pre-ordered the G.O.A.T edition months ago, then completely forgot about the whole "free 10 hours" thing until late last night before I went to bed. So I set the game to download overnight and this morning I woke up and wanted to try the game, only for it to tell me I'm "too early" and that the game will unlock on the 22nd. What the hell?

Am I doing this wrong? Also, my Google-fu is weak, because everything I search is bringing up questions about past versions of Madden.

Help me out fam.

I had to access the trial through EA Access first. Then after that I was able to start it without going into EA Access

Don't delete the pre-load! The EA Access is your "Key" to unlock the game instead of the release date.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have to have EA Access. Simply buying the GOAT edition doesn't give you EA Access trial period.

Last year it was giving similar issues. Twitter was lit about it.

I ended up deleting my preload and it worked eventually. I think M$ and EA had to tinker with it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have to have EA Access. Simply buying the GOAT edition doesn't give you EA Access trial period.

That's correct. GOAT Edition gets you the game August 22nd instead of the 25th. I assumed OP had EA Access through lol.

EA Access - August 17th
GOAT - August 22nd
Standard - August 25th

The OP is a little confusing as I took it he was looking for early access through his GOAT purchase and took that as him not being an EA Access subscriber.

Exactly. If you have the EA Access subscription, and the game pre-ordered and pre-loaded you can't access the game from your "my games and apps" screen, or you'll get the too early message. If you go into the EA access app, then to Madden 18, and launch trial, it will play fine.


After that initial load from the EA Access app, it will launch from anywhere.


As always though with EA Access, you have to make sure you "quit" Madden 18, you can't leave it suspended or it will eat your trial time.

Sorry for not being clear, I do have EA Access. I figured it out by going to the EA Access app and doing the trial through there and I didn't have to delete my pre-load. Thanks for your help guys!
