I thought it was calculated differently. Like instead of only looking at route running and man coverage it looked at other attributes (agility, acceleration, etc)

And I figured the coach stick factored in strength in the prs/rls number as well.

I'm going to have to disagree with just a little. You have to take the average of a WR's speed, agility, accel, and route rating and that average goes against the CB's average of their MCV, speed, acc, and agility. If you look at those averages then you'll understand how they set the matchup stick to work. If you need an example, Ill be happy to give you one.

Now I do kind of agree on one thing. It feels as if the dice rolls for wins and losses definitely favor the player more than the CPU which can be construed as a ratings boost.

You are correct...Either way all-pro plays true to its ratings. However, the issue is CPU AI playcalling doesn't play true to its strengths. For example, you have Green Bay with a 60/40 run to pass ratio favoring the run due to their gameplan feature. That sets an elite to team up to fail. We really need to be able to create custom gameplans for the CPU AI or similar to NCAA 14 at least be able to adjust run/pass ratios or all-pro will always be too easy

AI playcalling is atrocious because all it looks at is run/pass ratio and situation (e.g. 3rd and long). It does not even consider personnel. So a AI defense will play a team with poor WRs the same way it plays elite WRs.
Press Julio Jones with my 82 prs 87 spd corner? What can go wrong!

Is that still true with coaching adjustments on both sides?

Coaching adjustments do not affect playcaliing at all. It only affects the actions of individual players during a play (e.g. whether to use hit stick or not).

If a team has cover 1 press in its gameplan, it will call that defense against Tampa Bay just as often as it will against Cleveland.

As far as I know the CPU is still similar to Madden 17. They make no adjustments.

Not in play calling, but it will use the new coaching adjustments.

♦Ball Carrier Conservative: When ahead late, running ball in effort to keep clock moving
♦Cornerback Matchups: By OVR rating, when CB on team 90+ and offense has WR 90+
♦Pass Rush Aggressive: In certain passing situations.
♦Strip Ball Aggressive: When trailing late in close game and offense running clock
♦Strip Ball Conservative: During late-game, two-minute situations, when ahead
♦Tackling Aggressive: In some short yardage situations, also close games late when trailing
♦Tackling Conservative: During late-game, two-minute situations, when ahead

A feature from the late NCAA Football series is making its way to Madden this year with some expansion to its capabilities. Coaching Adjustments offer the ability to influence the player tendencies and match-up cornerbacks to specific wide receivers. The Coaching Adjustments option is located on the front page of the play call screen. This

Should have cited it though. My college professors would be unhappy with me

I agree, I play on the defensive line exclusively and I'm much more effective at getting pressure than the cpu.

I'm not sure if they removed it this year, but user controlled linemen get a boost separate from difficulty. Not user team mind you, you have to control the lineman.

I think there was talk of removing that boost from competitive but keeping it for simulation, because that makes complete sense lol

I think that is one of the reasons using acc clock seems to dumb down the ai..it dont have time to make audibles and coaching changes..useing a 8 -9 min q without acc clock seems to make the ai play much better..i strarted looking at this after Josh was talking about it in his slider thread last year

I think that is placebo. With acc clock the computer still has plenty of time to snap the ball, and besides the coaching adjustments are things that are done automatically. It is not like the AI has to manually make adjustments like humans do.

The AI is just dumb, plain and simple.
