If you want to play true to real life go with Simulation Mode

This is by far the best thing to happen to madden it plays realistic & plays true to the actual game..

If you want to have pentlies & injuries then go SIM

    Also fun fact

For the 1st time in the history of madden there was an illegal block in the back during the return called!!! Never ever seen that..

Also got called for facemask during kickoff & more I know the mode I'll be playing on thx you ea for this... loving it already!

Still more to explore but so far simulation mode is the way to go if you like to play true to the game!

Now Give Mahomes a fast Development Trait & we are good For this yr!

Anyone know if Defensive playbooks got updated as well & are they bigger & got new plays like the offensive playbooks???

    Go Chiefs!!

Yeah Sim is pretty cool for life-like play, definitely love how defense plays now. Hopefully with the tweaks, PI actually gets called now xD

I'm not sure if defensive playbooks are as expansive as offensive books, but from my experience there were some more options than usual, at least when playing as LAC though that could be from the HC change.

I like sim mode, but it still needs some slider tweaks. Way too many big plays are broken off with wide open holes for RB's or uncovered receivers.

I played the Super Bowl while the game downloaded last night. For the first time in forever, I had defensive PI called on Sim mode without slider tweaks.

Lol. I've seen penalties since madden since 16, at the very least. Where u been? [emoji6]. Holding, face mask, and blocking in the bock have been in for a few years. Not sure how u wouldn't have noticed this b4. But, yes, hopefully with sim mode, they keep the penalties and injuries realistic.

I get those penalties too, but only because I turn up those sliders to make them happen.

OP probably plays on default, and on default I would never get those penalties in the past.

Default penalty settings, would result in 1-3 penalties total per game for me in past Maddens.

Edit: I should say Madden 16 and 17 at least.... a couple were called a game. I forget before that. I forget before that at default

Yeah, true, that's a good number to keep in mind.

I'll be interested once I have the game this year to see how many result on average from default settings... It will be interestingly to see how EA adjusted for the new "sim" mode.

Illegal blocks in the back happen all time for years (like once or at most twice every couple of games, consistently, especially on kick returns). I'd say they happen LESS often now as I have yet to see one. Holding and false starts seems to be turned down too.

Defensive Pass Interference happens a lot more often, however.

In Madden 17, it seemed like the only time I would see a block in the back called was when I took a return to the house. It was usually a teammate that was like 10 yards behind me and could no longer affect the outcome of the play, except by making a dumb scripted penalty

Really? I used to have at least one a game on kick returns in 17, usually more than that. If anything it was called a little too much.
