Which means offline people will have only one option: playing a private online franchise, meaning no control over CPU teams.

I ran an online cloud CFM last nite and simmed to the offseason and did not see the new regression system working. Players were still regressing -2 speed at 29.

They are still going to regress based on age (in this case 29), but the new system stops the WR/CB/HB from falling below 90 because of that age based regression. There was also work done in other areas that should smooth out the regression. In years past when you looked at the regression page you saw a wall of negatives as soon as regression started, it should be a little smoother ramping up as the player gets older.

Yea I am talking speed at that 90 threshold. I thought I saw a WR drop below that but I may be wrong. I will be sure to double check when I get home from work.

It's possible if he was hurt during the year for extended time. The 90 floor only holds the age based regression.

maybe im not understanding, but dont most 29-30 year old receivers, D backs start to lose a step around 30. Usually its their intelligence, experience that carries them through their early thirties. I dont think ive ever seen a 29 year old run as fast as his 23 year old self.

What that 'step' usually is tho is the burst, or ACC, to get to top speed. I like the adjustment to a degree. It's a 'band aid', but an improvement providing it works right. Chris Johnson for example, heard announcers other day saying the ARI players say he's still got the 'top end' speed; meaning once he gets going, he's going to separate from you. But if you watch him on film, he clearly doesn't have the same 'burst' to stop and accelerate; his AGI looks less sharp as well. And b/c of that, we rarely get to see him open it up anymore.

Andre Johnson was another one b4 he retired. Heard same thing; "once he gets going". But when you watched him on film, he looked 'slow' his last year b/c he just didn't have that smooth and powerful ACC anymore.

Makes sense. Every player is different though. Some take better care of themselves than others. We've seen some players performance drop drastically in their late 20's like a Jarod Mayo, (which may have had more to do with injuries i think). Some players can keep it going into their mid to late thirties like a Junior Seau but those players are more rare than you would think. Its just that we hear their names all the time because of how good they are but more than half the leagues starters dont usually last until their mid thirties.

I wish we saw more early retirements in Madden. Ive found it to be an issue when i get about 8 to 9 seasons deep. I have too many guys that have lasted more than 6 years in the league and my team becomes stacked way too easy because it seems everybody in Madden lasts in the league well into their mid 30's. In real life there are players who sometimes retire in their late 20's because they are career backups being replaced, injuries, or just dont stay in shape for that long.

I dont mind players losing speed AROUND the age of 30.

I just hated how it was universal in Madden how each and every guy started dropping at age 29.

Like Cato06 said, some guys take better care of themselves than others, each person's body is different.

I'm glad they fixed it, sure guys should drop in speed as they get older... but it should be more random and come later for some people. Some guys are still fast at 30+
