When playing Madden, you have to play against not only the other team's offensive/defensive scheme, but you have to play against Madden's "AI Code" as well. That mean's that if I am on defense on third and short I can't just worry about down/distance, personnel and game situation (i.e. clock), but I also have to consider that controlling certain defenders or calling a certain play may "trigger" a Coded response from the AI that I must also defend against.
This is the same Code that:
-allows the backup QB to come into the game and throw 80%
-allows the QB to throw the ball for a "one yard" incompletion seconds before you sac him
-triggers injuries to star players even with the slider below 20
-(heavy artificial gravity/momentum) pulls players out of bounds when running east/west during catch process
-makes your lineman go in slow motion just before getting to the QB
-turns your user-controlled player away from the ball carrier for a split second
-triggers a juke move from the ball carrier when you use the "hit stick"
-allows safeties (even with low ratings) to react Perfectly to PlayAction and not get fooled
- freezes defenders (usually LBs) who are one-on-one against a scrambling QB in the open field
- sees receivers get "bumped" off their route and drift off into random directions as if in outer space
Maybe if we started listing tips for dealing with the Code it would alleviate some of the frustration.
