Why can’t my receivers stay in bounds?

Haven’t really played Madden this much in a few years, so I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but my receivers cannot keep both feet in around the sidelines to save their lives.

I’ll hit a stationary back out of the backfield and they’ll even go out right away after receiving the ball. Or I’ll drop one in to a wideout with like 5 feet to spare and they’ll warp and take some wonky stepping animation to ensure a foot is not in somehow.

Very frustrating. Is there a way to combat this?

You can edit them to have the makes sideline catches trait.

Are you trying possession catches? If you haven't played this much in a few years, I'm not sure if you're aware of the different catch button prompts.

They said they fixed it this year. But they haven't really. My receivers still some how end up running out of bounds or doing something stupid and frustrating at times.

No, I know about that. The game is sure to flash those prompts in a giant fashion all over my screen.

I was just wondering if there was a strafe or square with the sideline action I wasn’t making use of. A couple of times I’ve thrown to a back or tight end as they were stationary and about 3-5 yards away from the sideline and they still somehow magically warped out of bounds without lifting up their feet at all.

No, it's much better than it was. You are throwing too late if you are still seeing this issue. I use my HBs in the flats all the time.

I disagree. Well timed flats outs (and funny enough) bubble screens still frequently prompt animations that carry your receiver out of bounds. Is it "better than it was?" sure, that said it still happens WAY too much regardless of timing.
