Re: Target passing
I think precision passing is enough; target passing is good for a qb character in connected career mode... or if madden had VR

Re: Target passing
It's a waste of time. Just a more complicated way to do what we've been doing. I've had no reason to use it. I rather be able to move and throw the ball in a certain direction and let the attributes do their thing. Instead of turning into a sitting duck and throwing to an exact location every time.
But that's just me though.Comment

Re: Target passing
I'm usually pretty good with the sticks and have found it to be more trouble than it's worth, I haven't given it enough time yet though. I think it everyone had to use it, it would be really worth it as you would then actually have bad passes and good passes. People want the more realistic ratings and tendencies..but I know if the CPU qb messes up a throw that I know I could have made , then I'm pissed. But it is difficult to use and why handicap yourself if the opponent doesn't have to and most likely isn't using it. I think it should have been mandatory for competitive play. I'm all for the most user control possible, but I know not everyone else feels the same way, can't please everyone.

Re: Target passing
I'm really enjoying the target passing, but I do wish it took ratings into account. The current precision marker should be for the Tom Brady's and Aaron Rodger's of the world. For less accurate QB's, there should be a circle (the size of which gets bigger/smaller depending on their accuracy rating) showing an area where the ball will land.
But still, I've found it to be quite a bit of fun. I like that I have to be focused on every throw. Even those drag routes that I knew were automatic completions in past games, I have to still focus in and make sure I execute the throw. Throwing too far in front is going to cost me gaining any yards at all, but throwing too far behind will slow my receiver down and could cost me a big gain. Curl routes, check-downs to RBs in the flats, quick slants ... these were all routes that I basically could turn my brain off and just mash down the button before, but now I feel like I have to actually make that throw.
I also enjoy that it feels like it forces me to scan the field and go through progressions more. Even with the camera zoomed in, I can still see the whole field, which isn't very realistic. But with the target passing, I'm having to focus on placing the marker, so it generally keeps my eyes on one-third of the field. It also means that I can't look to the right side of the field, and then instantly throw to the left side of the field. It takes a moment to work the marker all the way over to that side of the field, which in my opinion, simulates a QB having to locate his receiver on the other side of the field and resetting his feet to deliver the throw. Because of that slight delay, I feel like I have to go through progressions and anticipate things (including pre-snap reads) more than I did with the icons. One other aspect of this is the fact that if I throw the ball to anyone other than my primary receiver, I have to KNOW what route they're running. I can't just see an open receiver, hit the icon, and have my QB throw the route for me. In order to properly place the marker, I have to remember if that guy is breaking inside/outside, sitting down in the zone, whether he had an option route, etc. Sure, WR's will adjust to the ball, but it's actually not nearly as overpowered as I thought it might be. You can't throw the wrong route and expect them to bail you out.
I do wish that you could move while target passing is activated, but I've gotten better at tapping L2 when I'm feeling pressure to allow me the ability to move in the pocket. There usually isn't time to bring target passing back up though, so I just use icon passing from that point.
Final thought, I do really enjoy target passing down near the goalline. At any point, I can hold L1, move the cursor out of bounds, fire a bullet 10 feet over everyone's head, and move on to the next play. I hated passing near the goalline in past games because I didn't always have an option to legally get rid of the ball without risking throwing an interception. Also, fade routes are incredibly satisfying when you drop one right in the bucket for your receiver.
It's definitely not for everyone, especially the competitive online crowd. Not unless you're just in the business of purposefully putting yourself at a disadvantage to your opponent. The icon passing is simply a lot faster and more reliable than the target passing, and you don't lose your ability to move and slide in the pocket. But for me personally, I find it to be a lot of fun against the CPU and am glad it's in the game.Comment

Re: Target passing
It doesnt account for attributes. So basically its a very complicated, useless mechanic that I just wont use.Comment

Re: Target passing
I find it to be completely useless. I play a lot of Online ranked matches. There's a 0% chance you're going to have enough time to move a cursor around the field. It's just bad. Longshot and Target Passing are two thing that no Madden fan asked for ever. Especially Longshot.Comment

Re: Target passing
I use it all the time when I want the game to play realistically but still be a challenge (i.e. I set the difficulty to All Pro and then exclusively pass using it, except on passes like screen passes where there is only one option to throw it [in the name of realism]).Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image
