this is nice on S but nit much better than SDR, looks more real and reflections are good Forza Horizon 3 looks phenomenal but can not wait for the X to see it in all its glory for Madden.

i agree though this could use an in game setting like battlefield supplies for hdr
It could just be the Xbox one S with my TV, but it was washed out no matter what. Even my best adjustments could only do so much.

I bought the ps4 pro copy last night and it looks amazing (plus it's 4k,not a crummy upscale). Not washed out... Even my wife could tell a difference in the ps4 pro copy (and that's saying something).

Yes, I copied the settings for both hdmi imports and switched between the two. The grass isn't quite as green as his, but he may be using different settings than me.

BIG difference between the Xbox one s and ps4 pro. And NO, it's not some placebo effect.. For as many hours (and hours) as I have spent on this, there is a huge difference (not just with the hdr but also 4k).

I have to agree with this 100%, not placebo affect. I'm glad I posted some pics, so u don't have to go crazy anymore playing Madden lol

Madden looks phenomenal in HDR on my PS4 Pro. I'm gaming on a 4k OLED (LG E6).

Totally removes the washed out looking effect of SDR. Big reason why it looks lousy on Xbox is due to a lack of 4k support. HDR is also intended to have access to extra pixels to drive the extra color.

One thing - all of you on PS4 and Xbox should have your console outputting YUV420 instead of RGB. This will allow your TV to play on 10 bit HDR on your TV. Where as if you're playing in RGB mode it'll only allow a pseudo 8 bit HDR due to HDMI limitations.

Same with my LG OLED and the PS4 Pro. It looks great.

I'm pretty sure YUV is actually a compression that allows 4k and hdr? 4k and hdr can't send over RGB because of hdmi 2.0 bandwidth limitations, but if it could it would look better. Let me know if I'm wrong, but either way Xbox one s looked like garbage

I took several photos with my Galaxy S7 of the Steelers at home, 1pm, clear, and sure enough as I hold my phone in my hand and stare at my tv..... The picture I took looks way more vibrant. The fields are even greener and deeper than the ones posted in this thread. Imo the camera definetly creates a more vibrant pic bc of the flash or something else, or a combination of both.

Either way, I agree with you that the PS4 Pro looks better bc of the native 4k resolution. I managed to get my field under those conditions to look even like the pics posted in this thread by simply setting the in game brightness to higher, and the in game contrast to highest. It looks great with the tv calibration that I have.

I do think there is still some strange work being done by the Xbox One S when it comes to HDR in games. Maybe some developers aren't implementing it properly, who knows. NBA 2K18 looks great with the HDR by default, no need to tweek anything from what Ive seen at home.

Like some people have posted, maybe an in game brightness adjustment along the lines of BF1 and GOW4 has will help, as those 2 games look great with HDR.

It can send over RGB at 4:2:2 but it limits color volume at the expense of getting a boost in vertical chroma. May look slightly cleaner but you're not getting true HDR.

Reason I post that is because the PS4 Pro tells the user that RGB is better and when you select RGB it will default to 4:2:2 instead of the better 4:2:0.

So since the console is telling people that RGB is the best I figured I'd tell them otherwise.

only disappointing thing for me is I kept hearing about HDR and then when this game added it I went and bought an X1S and traded in my OG for it.

I have an X1X ordered so I wasted about $136 to find out HDR games on it are not all that . I mean they're nice I can see a difference, but not like what people are seeing from 4k HDR.

                        oh well live and learn.

can not wait for X1X now.

I can't wait for the X1X. It's not that far away now. I was hoping it was going to look better than the Pro, but I'm not so sure it can look any better. Will see if they deliver on true 4k

Correct me if I am wrong...but does the Xbox 1S even adequately DO HDR? I was under the assumption that until the 1X came out the PS4 was it.

                              Game looks good w/HDR on my Pro/Sammy KS8000 60".

When I first saw the game w/HDR (and backlight all the way up) it still looked like I was wearing weak sunglasses; like a bit tinted.

I resolved this by just going into the games visual options and notching up the brightness and contrast from default to one higher (not the highest) and I'm happy with it now. Glad I don't need to do any other tv tweaks just for this game.
