It never did this before and totally kills cpu vs cpu games. So stupid.

I think it is a console setting doing that...not the game...check your sleep or standby settings.

It never used to do not before. I haven't changed any settings either. The controller itself doesn't turn off, but it would pause of not touched anyway after a few mins.

Yes. Definitely changed. I used to be able to start a cpu vs cpu game and then turn the controller off and the game would still play. Now it automatically pauses.

          Why was that needed? Ridiculous

I wonder if that is a new Microsoft/Sony requirement. When the game updates go through platform testing it is not for the game itself but really how it interacts in their environment. They require developers to have certain features in games, and it is possible they asked them to add this to meet some sort of standard.

Not saying this is the answer, but it's a different perspective than it is some sort of bug or glitch.

Very possible and would not be a surprise to me if it was the case.

err is it that shocking that the console thinks you should need a controller to play the game?

why don't you just plug it into usb?

Also this definitely isn't new, it happens to me on madden for ps3.

PS3? lol. Wrong. Never had this happen and i've been a CPU vs CPU player since PS2 at least and have either played or owned Madden every single year.

This does not happen on PS4 as I have one and was doing a CPU vs CPU franchise on it. This is only on Xbox One so yes it is "shocking" that the game pauses every 10 damn minutes even when plugged into the system via usb. Even more shocking that no one gives a ****. **** those guys on Xbox right?

Let's assume you were playing a game and in the middle of a major event your controller dies. Don't you think in 99% of cases it would make sense that a game would pause in order to not get you "killed"? This is why I said it's probably a Microsoft requirement because in most cases this improves the experience of a user.

Cool but that should not happen in a spectator mode of any game. One would think Microsoft or game developer would have common to know that. I'm going to try it in NBA 2k to see if it's just EA.

Common sense, which I'm assuming you're saying they should have, would be to pause a game if a person's controller dies. It's actually a very common mechanic in games. Maybe it was added inadvertently, but it is quite common for the reason stated in my last post.

Does XBOne have an "auto power-off" feature for an idle controller like PS4 does? I have 4 options on PS4 - after 10, 30, 60 minutes, and "do not turn off".
