Article about EA looking at possibly not releasing madden yearly in the future

So here is the article, it says they are floating the idea right now. But maybe it could help madden, maybe not, depends on how much they want to price the subscription for. Thought ?

If you play EA's sports games often, you know the drill: every summer there's a fresh round of titles that carry new modes, gameplay tweaks and (of course) roster updates. They're often minor and not always worth buying, but what choice do you have if you want to stay current? There might be a more practical option soon. In an interview with Bloomberg, EA chief Andrew Wilson floated the possibility that his company might drop annual sports game releases in favor of updates or subscriptions. The publisher could treat the games as a "365-day, live service," he said. Instead of buying FIFA or Madden every year, you might pay a regular fee or download content to keep it relevant.
    Yup, i said it !

An interesting development. If they do that the quality of each game needs to more than double. But in truth it is probably an idea designed to maximize revenue, not increase quality.

You are right. Like Deion Sanders says when someone is making a big change and everyone is wondering why... "follow the money"

Exactly, reduces pressure/cost on the dev team to make back of the box features in an already shrunken development cycle. Allows them to make minimal changes while still raking metric f$%# tons of cash year after year. We all should have seen this coming a mile away with the cancer that is micro transactions and pay to win. I get pushed closer and closer to giving up gaming each year, very seldom do I ever finish games anymore, stuff like this makes it even more difficult.
