M18 - How Do Playbooks and Coaching Schemes Affect a CPU's Team Simulated Stats?

I ask because I've reach my 5th season and now several teams have fired their HC's. These AI coaches that get hired have a mix of playbooks on offense/defense. And sometimes the defensive playbook doesn't match the defensive scheme. In addition the schemes for each position don't change when a new AI HC is hired.

I had to invite another account and go in and change the positional schemes for several teams to match their defensive scheme. And change some of the personnel. Do I need to change the playbook as well? Will they still generate stats consistent with their scheme and personnel even if a 3-4 defensive scheme is using a 4-3 defensive PB?

And I'm not talking about games where I play the CPU, but rather the simulated CPU vs CPU games when I advance a week.

Not sure, but wouldn’t be surprised if it did have an effect. I remember somebody tested this on NCAA and found that the Ole Miss gave best Simulated Season stats for the spread optionoffense they said this book was the best for getting simulated QB carries right.

In supersim, only the playbook matters. Schemes are not used.
There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.

The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

The only difference between reality and fiction is that fiction needs to be credible.

What about when you simulate the rest of the non-user played games every week?

You can control all 32 (offline chise only) or you can live with the faulty non user books and stats. There are methods for getting the CPU to use more realistic playcalling using 2 controllers and/or 2nd profiles. Search playbooks on this forum for some threads from late last year.

On it's own, madden fails at playcalling and scheme/playbook managemen.

I don't want to control all 32 (I'm in a Cloud online anyway so that ship has sailed).

I can invite a 2nd user to teams to make some changes, but changes don't always hold.

I just wanted to make sure about what I need to change to make sure all the non-user simulated games get the stats rights based on schemes. I don't want 4-3 OLB's putting up monster sack seasons or consistently putting up 10+ sacks. Same goes for 3-4 OLB's not getting any sacks.

From my adjustments it appears like you can't edit the personnel schemes of teams with CPU-generated HC's. But you can change the PB's and coaching schemes of those CPU-generated HC's and those will remain.

And for existing HC's that go to other teams they bring their PB's and coaching schemes, but I needed to change the personnel schemes if they didn't match the existing HC. Those changes still stick for an existing HC though. Like I have the Panthers with John Harbaugh right now and changes all the personnel schemes to match 3-4 personnel.

But the Ravens had a CPU-generated HC without a 3-4 PB and defensive scheme, but when I changed the personnel schemes they didn't hold. So I changed that CPU-generated HC's PB and defensive scheme to a 4-3.

Stinks because I wish new CPU-generated HC's were carrying their own schemes over. Eventually the entire league will end up with schemes based on what they originally were after all the existing HC's retire or are fired.

Playbooks and schemes have a major effect on simmed games. For instance, taking any playbook and setting the scheme to vertical will result in a substantial increase in passing in simmed games.
