Lol...I have tried user catching because of this Madden but I just cant get into it...it feels like you are taking ratings out the game..I dont get why sim has to have user catching determining outcomes it should all be sim ratings based..anyway if its any consolation upping wr catching sliders increases their aggressiveness a bit..I think I am letting madden 19 go to at least they patch in a sim mode that works....

I'm pretty sure there's a bug right now where even if you press the button, things are triggering at times so that could be at play here as well. I know on defense I've had a bunch of issues with trying to swat or play the ball and nothing happening and then also on offense, the same thing where on certain plays the receiver won't do anything in situations where I've pressed the button as well as when I haven't.

Have people tried going into the coaching assignments on the play call screen and adjusting to aggressive catching on deep routes?

For some weird reason I forgot about catching settings in coaching adjustments. I'll have to see how that works.

My biggest problem with receivers has been on balls to the flats when there is a defender nearby. There seems to be some occasional scripting that has killed me in two of the online games I’ve played. I’ll make a bullet throw, and instead I’ll throw a touch pass as if I barely tapped the button. Then, my WR essentially just jumps out of the way leading to a pick six. I kid you not, on one play, my WR just did a front flip before the pass got there, for no reason, without even being touched. Leaving the DB wide open for the pick.

I think they’re forcing us to try and take control of the receiver and make the catch. I used to throw and just let the cpu do the work cause I’m old school, but that’s not really how the game is supposed to be played now. Also I noticed if you use the directional passing when hucking it up downfield, it helps keeping the DB away from the ball.

However I agree. They should have it be a setting. Either you choose full control over receivers or have the AI have full control over WR animations.

What sucks is if you’re playing a QB only CFM. I rarely go deep for 50/50 balls because it’s not 50/50. The CB almost always mosses the WR.

Idk what the fascination with 100% user control is nowadays but the fact we have “coaching adjustments” that will tell our WRs how to catch a ball each play is ridiculous. Coaches aren’t telling their WRs that when they have a route over 10 yards they have to attack the ball over letting it come to them. It’s literally dependent on what the play is, the defensive positioning and the throw itself.

Comp crowd wants and needs hinder the wants/needs of the sim crowd way too often. I shouldn’t have to do everything myself when there are 11 people on the field. I can’t, won’t and do not want to control every single aspect of my game. There’s no point in having ratings or intelligent AI might as well just make the whole game user vs user 11on11

Is the long ball issues user or CPU?

I've asked because every long ball I've thrown with Rodgers, the Packers WR's go up for it, including Hail Mary's. I've caught a Hail Mary without even usering a WR.

I have seen video evidence of WR's not going up for 50/50's, just haven't experienced, yet, on this end, knock on wood.

I am a firm believer of using all the tools that come with the game, including coaching adjustments at certain points of the game. I use 2 coaching adjustments prior to each game, CB's overall, and play the ball with CB's. As a matter of fact, that is probably why I don't see this with CB's.

Great post I am old school to and I never user controlled because I wanted the ratings to take place...Its clearly suited for the competitive crowd which is why PI is never called..I have just had to reteach myself but I agree I think sim setting should encompass that...

I've had PI called a few times in the small sample size I've played, once on me and once on the CPU.

It was a welcome surprise and something Clint mentioned the squeezed in to make more calls in that area.

I wish they felt the same with way with DH.

Same issue, and I LOVE when the WR just stands there fixing his gloves and looking around when it's intercepted, instead of chasing after the CB/S that picked it off lol

its just more of the same really. they never really have wr's aggressive and zealous over the ball like the defense is. they literally gingerly keep running their route regardless of the situation or where the ball is alot of the time while cbs stop and try to highpoint or cut off the ball. they wont even react alot of times unless u user catch. wr's need to be aggressive as well and/or try to stop and seal off the cb for the 50/50. it should be way more tips or bats to even just keep it outa cbs hands if a catch cant be made.

now the over zealous lbs back to snatching everything in the middle is another story...i dont get how old things from madden past have crept back up after long hiatus to wreak havoc on m19.

If only we had different settings for comp and sim huh? Then EA could make changes for one crowd without hindering the other.

I typically like to keep info like this inside my slider thread to help get its views and uses up...but ill throw out my observartions..

i was seeing this as well...and not just on deep balls...wrs were simply not attacking the ball on routes where the defensive back was close to them...this lead to interceptions that should not have happened...

how did i fix this??

I turned off offensive pass interference inside CFM.....

wrs now attack the ball...

im a firm believer in not user catching the ball..so this was a big issue for me...and im glad i got it fixed....hope this helps
