I don't think you can call a game mode that is missing features from the PS2 days extraordinary, on any level. Just compare Madden's franchise mode to MyLeague from 2k and the franchise mode from The Show and you can see how far behind it really is. And that isn't subjective. It's objective that they take out features so they can resell them again. (ie; taking captains out after Madden 12 and literally putting it as a feature for CFM this year.) What a joke.

Recognizing the fact that 2k has vastly more options in terms of customization, for example, is measurable and objective. We can list the features they have that Madden doesn't. And that's important to do if we want Madden to actually improve.
People that are just satisfied with the product in our hands that has mostly been recycled and still have legacy problems dating back to last gen, are a huge part of why we still have these issues. That's just my opinion.Comment

I mean, that's not what I meant, but even if it was, if you compare purely based on features within the games and how in depth they are, I think you could make the argument that Madden is objectively behind other games within the sports genre. But it doesn't really matter, it's just semantics. No biggie.Comment

If you truly want customization in a football game you should try Maximum Football. It is only $16.99 and probably has everything you are looking for.Follow me on Twitter @Billy4NY for Madden tips and tools for your CFMComment

Re: Has the patch fixed sim stats for QB running?
Most of the features that we want to see that EA has yet to implement are restricted by the NFL. Coordinators, created stadiums, altering divisions/conferences, team relocations, and many other things are prevented from being implemented by the NFL, not EA.

But you know, if everything you're saying is true, it makes it even more damning that Madden has all the legacy issues it has, given the fact that EA doesn't even have to focus on these things you've listed.
Here's the legacy issues I speak of;
- Messed up QB rush stats
- Teams making awful decisions (drafting a QB in the first round a year after drafting darnold, Josh Allen, etc, an issue which Madden 12 literally fixed, but they took player roles out of the game)
- the same exact staff members in franchise
- the wind issue when punting
- the issue where if your kicker doesn't do kickoffs, his stats don't record
And that's off the top of my head.
It's these things in conjunction that just ruin the game. It ruins the immersion, it ruins everything. I hope mods can fix some of these things.Comment

Billy, if i didnt know any better id say you must work for EA. Everything you say is pro-madden. Even the BIGGEST madden fan has bad things to say about this game.
QB rushing numbers, IMO should not be a hard fix. Cmon man!Comment

Re: Has the patch fixed sim stats for QB running?
I don't think that any offline CFM fan would argue with that, but is it enough to completely abandon the game? That is debatable. The bugs in CFM this year have been far and few between. The level of immersion has increased greatly this year with improved commentary (not perfect, but improved), pre-game introduction, in-game stat highlights, half-time shows, and an improved playoff atmosphere.
If you expect perfection from your video games then it is probably best to stay away from sports games. Too much subjectivity. Madden NFL 19 CFM is extraordinary.Comment

Re: Has the patch fixed sim stats for QB running?
Overall, I am pro-Madden as opposed to be anti-Madden(?). I mean, I have purchased the game every year except for Madden 18, where I actually passed since CFM was untouched. Most people complain about CFM and then still buy the game. I chose to not purchase Madden 18 and now Madden 19 is seeing a lot of CFM improvements (you're welcome, lol).
I have plenty of complaints about the game, specifically CFM, but I am also a realist. I know that there are things that would be impossible to program to the point where all of us would be happy. Things like adding coordinators, updating scouting, adding new playbooks, and such would all be fantastic additions that would please us all. However, trying to fix things like simulation stats and CPU roster management logic are a bigger hurdle. We have a vast community and some portion of it will always find issue with the way EA chooses to program these things. Would we all be happy if our simulation mirrored an NFL season exactly? Isn't the whole point of a video game to create our own experience? I think it is extremely hard to toe that line.
Lastly, I think EA has done a good job of giving us tools to make CFM what we want it to be. You can draft for the CPU teams, make cuts for them, edit player ratings, force wins, and so much more to create the CFM experience that you want. This is not to say that we have the ability to fix everything, but there is quite a bit of control in the user's hand, wouldn't you agree?Follow me on Twitter @Billy4NY for Madden tips and tools for your CFMComment

Believe me, I do NOT work for EA. If I did I would probably wouldn't have any time to be here posting on forums to help facilitate conversations.

He achieved that on his own with no studio backing.
What's EA's excuse?
Jim recently joined the OOTP team and hopefully Front Office Football 9 which comes out this year will truly give those of us who love immersive franchise control a great game. What would Blackie Lawless do?Comment

Re: Has the patch fixed sim stats for QB running?
Jim Grindin, a software developer who up until recently worked on his own, managed to develop Front Office Football, a text based franchise simulation game which has far more realistic simulation stats and AI draft logic than Madden has.
He achieved that on his own with no studio backing.
What's EA's excuse?
If you didn't catch my sarcasm, let me make it very clear here that I am being sarcastic and I quite like FOF. My point is that "What's their excuse for X?" a ridiculous question to ask in this case. Madden and FOF are two different products with two very different sets of expectations set by their respective developers and consumers. Comparison between the two is pointless.Comment

Re: Has the patch fixed sim stats for QB running?
Back to my point ........
You can create all the touchdown celebrations, types of cleats, face masks, hundreds and hundreds of plays, realistic stadiums, decent commentary etc etc .. but you CAN'T accurately reflect QB rushing numbers in CFM?
Is it realllllllly asking too much after at minimum 3 years asking for realistic numbers???!!!
In previous years it was LT's giving up absurd number of sacks (high 30's), this year it's QB's rushing AND WR's catches. Simmed 5 different seasons and in total only 3 WR's caught over 100 balls. Only maybe 5 on average catching over 90 in a season.
For a company and brand as big as EA this shouldnt make it into the game. I think im being fair with that statement.Comment
