Re: Gridiron Notes June 21 QB Throwing Styles

Foles certainly doesn’t have a quick throwing motion. But I wouldn’t say it’s extra long/slow. I’ve seen many QBs who have a throwing motion similar to foles and no one bats an eye. I think Goff has a drawn out throwing motion. Hell even mahomes has a bit drawn out motion.

I think it’s one of those things that gets brought up once and just sticks to a guy. The term “quick release” is another one that gets thrown around to often. I’ve seen commentators talk about a guy having a quick release and I just shake my head. It’s almost a generic term imo. Just a fancy phrase that a commentator can lean on.

I haven’t seen the football guys, but don’t even mention sharpe and Bayless. Lol. Sharpe’s mouth never stops moving and bayless doesn’t know anything about sports. Lol. I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with anything out of bayless’s mouth, so I really hope they wouldn’t pick him. Lol.

        • Tier 1 - 1 QB
        • Tier 2 - 34+ QB's
        • Tier 3 - 1 QB

Like what's the point of differentiating if basically everyone is the exact same? How is that worth the effort?

Yeah, I agree with that. It’d be cool if every qb had their own specific time. They could actually time their releases from game footage. Take a large enough sample size and take an avg or something, and make the generic release time for that qb. It’s all going to be pretty close, though, when u think about it. Even Foles animation probably won’t be that bad. And, ultimately, even scrubs in the nfl release the ball quickly enough. So, I suppose from their perspective, they’re giving a select few QBs to have the fastest possible, which actually might be accurate, honestly.

I guess it would be great to see as much differentiation as possible, but honestly, what’s the difference in time, here? Every qb has a release time of what, 1-2s? Lol. I mean, you’d have to get into nano seconds to differentiate. Idk, the more I think about it, it doesn’t seem like a major issue, actually. It’s actually amazing that madden is even differentiating QBs this much in 2019. [emoji6][emoji41]

I hope this is true because it’s the people above the development team that were holding this game back as far as becoming more simulation and realism oriented, they mainly cared about sales and back of the box features. I think we’ll know pretty quickly once the game is released, if they are sticking to their guns and keeping the pass rush and QB throwing animations like they were in the beta.

When are you guys going to realize it's not the so called suits, it's tiburon? EA Vancouver has the same exact execs and even scarcer resources, yet they have added game changing features to franchise every year for the last 3 years, while also building the world of chel . This excuse doesn't hold water with me anymore.

And as for realism regarding the training camp thing, which is more realistic: players getting better because they put in work in the offseason, or because they have a game with three touchdowns?
Agreed 100%. Looking back now it hasn't aged well. But at the time it was innovative and engaging. Something CFM now does not.

Are you seriously using NHL as a great example? NHL can't add the feature of seeing the scores around the league or past games and the stat menus are horrendous. The world of chel is a joke and they have admittedly not even touched the teammate/cpu ai this year so the other players on the ice continue to be brain dead. Read the comments in the NHL section of OS to see how excited the regulars are about that game. What's the point of game changing elements like player morale, line chemistry when the player attributes don't matter and all the skaters feel the same?

Are you serious?!?! Lol. With all of the features franchise could offer you are worried about a league score ticker more than anything? Well then CFM is probably right up your Allie (side note if you go to the news section in franchise it will give you outcomes of other games as well as accomplishments I.e. Patrick marleau nets hat trick against Devils in 3-2 win. Not perfect but might help you enjoy the game a bit more of this is your hang up). Also, I don't know what version of NHL you are playing but no one said their franchise mode is perfect. Heck even 2k. My league has issues. The point I was trying to make is that at least NHL is adding things. Things that literally change how you play franchise one year to the next. CFM has felt relatively the same for the last 5 years.

                  P.s.

Although the morale system in NHL sucks, it is easily exploited. If you pick the yellow option more often then not your players respond positively. I can live with this as long as they are adding other awesome things year to year like they have been.

I didn't say a ticker it's interesting to know what the actual scores around the league are at any point on the calender, you know, like the ps3 version 4 years ago had. The largest complaint about the current state of the NHL series is the feeling of being isolated from the league and the shallow tweet section hardly helps. Sorry you took it as a personal shot, but I dont see any of their features as game changing.

No, bo shot at all. This is what the forum is for. Voicing ones thoughts and opinions. I am just a very staunch supporter of EA Vancouver because honestly they have been doing such a great job with the game the last few years. In fact NHL has become one of the series I look forward to most every year now.

I admit, the league can feel quite isolated at times. However, in my opinion madden CFM is the most isolating franchise mode in all of sports gaming. There is literally zero emotion in the mode. Hopefully scenarios can fix this.

                          Hello everyone,,
I am absolutely NOT a fan of every starting qb except Foles and Rodgers having the same release speed. I’m sorry but that simply isn’t true, and as a 49er fan it negates one of the main reasons I like Jimmy Garoppolo - the fact that less than a handful of qbs have a faster release.

Maybe ten to fifteen qbs in the NFL have that release speed that makes commentators start talking about it. 30 at the same speed is just not cool IMHO.

However, if roster editing can change this (or mods), I can deal.

Swapping Jimmy G for Brady would be one of the most stupid things in the history of the NFL.

Can't say I honestly watched alot of Jimmy G, but I did see him against a pretty good Saints defense. What I saw was a QB who could actually throw the ball as the receivers were making their breaks, rather than having to have receivers all running "stop" routes.

I wouldn't give up on him at all. I would let him throw a little bit more early on in games, thus allowing him to find his rhythm.
