Most people I've spoken to want both, but they point the the stat record thing because it could literally be put in by one person in just a few days (unless Madden's code is so fubar that it would be better just to start over). It's just a text rpg.

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
It's not the Developers people need to address, it's marketing and the higher ups.
This is the business process that EA Tibs employs and marketing and higher ups aren't accessible to social media like the developers are on Twitter.
I don't think anyone disagrees that CFM needs more options to the mode, the question is, when will they do it during their process.
If it isn’t a definite “YES”, kiss it goodbye.Comment

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
I just watched the franchise trailer for NHL 20 and I commend the effort of the EA Vancouver team. I know NHL has itself, plenty of gameplay issues to work through, but they have done a very good job the last two years adding depth to franchise.
Agree that there is little hope without monetization of the mode to resurrect it at this point for Madden and EA Tib. MUT is kind of the Black Friday of video gaming.. a hyper-competitive race to beat other people at spending money. An environment that has turned giving a corporation your money into a competition that no one actually wins. Point... feels like Madden only wants to be open Black Friday and closed the rest of the year. They are catering more and more to a specific (although large) crowd which is unfortunate.Comment

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
I have been of the opinion that we will never get a world class management sim grafted onto Madden. But... I think the last few years offers a least a few small glimmers of hope.
First, they could have just eliminated the mode altogether if they thought it had no value. After all, it had been junk since the series left the PS2/Xbox. But they didn't, some type of marginal investment was made for CFM. Certainly not world class, not even a return to all the functionality of the PS2 era... but it was an investment made. Disappointed as I have been with the general stagnation / direction of the series in general, sometimes you take the small victories.
Second, they released the pig back into the PC wildness... and the PC wilderness has modders... and modders mod. Perhaps EA takes a Bethesda approach, releases a buggy and incomplete game and lets the community work for free on polishing. Either you can get a better experience from a modded PC copy... or EA incorporates some of the modder tweaks into future releases... But it's another avenue offering a glimmer of hope for a better sim / franchise experience. I had told myself that I was sitting out M19 for sure... then they announced it for PC and I'm still around for M20... so I'm essentially banking on the PC side being the salvation for sim/franchise guys.Comment

The presentation is just terrible in CFM.. every game Coachman says the same thing over and over and over
EA stinksComment

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
EA can't produce anymore good sportgames like in PS2 Era... We must accept time changed, Exclusive License , Microtransactions, nice graphics and million dollar marketing are more important nowadays and EA mutated into one of the worst publisher we ever seen worldwide...Don't expect quality or depth from EA, this days are long gone....Comment

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
its not marketing that drives current content, its the bean counters. Marketing will promote what they are given to promote, accountants like the profit from the current model so dont change it. i worked for a very large global company for 30 plus years before i retired and thats how it works to maintain the bottom line which is all that matters to shareholders and the managers that get bonuses based on share price/owner happinessComment

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
I just look at the improvements NHL has made to Franchise last 2 years and think where Madden could've been at. Like NHL gets Coaching Carousel before Madden smh, especially since NCAA had it 6 years ago. I would have more than fine with generic coaches. And it would have been just generic coordinators. The causal fan doesn't know many coordinators and the hardcore wouldn't make a big deal of it.
I know its the higher ups and marketing. I feel their priority has been on bringing in new gamers instead of trying to keep the ones they have. The whole LongShot and Face of Franchise could have waited. They should have done what 2k has done. Which was get MyLeague to a deep point where masses won't complain as much when priority is else where. Their priority has been on MyCareer and MyTeam last few years while MyLeague has barely been touched the last 3-4 years. But masses hasn't been complaining as much because MyLeague is one of the deepest Modes in sports games. Madden should at least be at where NHL 20 is at as far as Franchise mode. If CFM was deep, then people wouldn't complain about Longshot or FoF. I'm a big career mode guy and primarily buy 2k just for Career mode since I'm not a hardcore BBall fan. But I have no interest in FoF. Once you get past the short Pre-NFL experience, it is the same bland player Lock CFM experience with underwhelming scenarios. A deep CFM should have been the focus before that mode. Looks like we won't start seeing it next gen. But they still might want to expand FoF and you know modes get stripped down in new generations. So for now we are stuck with Coaches with no impact on games, no real difference in CPU playcalling/Strategy, and the same bland streamlined presentationComment

Re: EA devs need to understand Franchise Mode......
I don't have any numbers but just as an educated guess, I would think that NHL brings in a fraction of what Madden does in Pokemon card sales.... with a higher percentage of the player base being franchise guys... so they probably need to look at that mode as a more important selling point. With Madden, MUT whales essentially print money for EA... so I don't find it terribly surprising that the CFM stuff gets minimal attention, it's not needed for revenue. It's all a tad depressing... but again... not terribly surprising.Comment
