Re: UNACCEPTABLE oversight by the Devs......

You place far too much value on unimportant cosmetic issues of this game. All I ever play is franchise - never played a game of MUT, never played a game of online h2h. But I skip and care nothing for every issue you’ve brought up, and I don’t even think you can call this subjective. You are objectively wrong in the importance you place on this. A single-team CFM season consists of 4 preseason games, 16 regular season games, and a maximum of 5 (including pro bowl) postseason games. That’s 25 games to play, each lasting approximately an hour. 25 hours of gameplay. 25 hours in which we are subjected to the currently flawed and buggy pass coverage mechanics in M20. And you’re complaining about 5-10 minutes (tops) of celebrations and cut scenes. Is that why you play this game? To watch a celebration that you can’t control? YouTube “NFL locker room celebration”, you can watch celebrations that you can’t control to your heart’s content. Every one is unique and every year new ones are added - sounds like exactly what you’re looking for.

In the meantime, I will kindly ask you to please stop talking. Posting threads like this that complain about some fringe topic that very few are concerned about and demands unrealistic attention and value from the devs potentially takes attention away from the real issues in this game.

Correct. The devs build WHAT THEY ARE TOLD.

It's like blaming a construction worker because of an ugly building design...

I think people come to OS and just assume that what's said here is the sentiment across the board and the standard for everything that should or shouldn't be in the game. The truth is that we're a really small percentage of the people who play the game.

I’d like to see your numbers that back that up. I get that OS is a smaller community, but I also can tell you that many people who play the “OS” style do not even come to this board. It is comical that this continuously gets brought up.

I always skip cutscenes and really couldn't care less about them. Game-play and franchise improvements on the other hand would be nice...

Have you got to play 20 yet? I think you might enjoy some of the game play enhancements as it is worth a rent. Now you will probably be disappointed in the Franchise improvements. I cancelled my pre-order to wait until they add a few patches, and to see if they do anything with coverage/blocking issues that I noticed during my trial.

"They are maximizing profits by spending less year after year."

Most businesses if they are selling their product like hotcakes do this. If the product is flying off the shelves or the griddle and I could get my eggs for 3 cents less per unit and keep the consumer price the same, increasing my profit, why wouldn't I?

While I don't disagree with your sentiments about getting some attention to detail in franchise so it doesn't come off as a sloppy mode, I have to disagree with something you said here and in the other thread: you say what Madden "SHOULD" be based on your wants. Madden "should' be an American football franchise mode sim (something to that effect). But that may not be what someone else wants from the game, or your details that you want may not be what another sim player would ask for (example: the guy telling us that we have better things to do with our time than watch CPU v CPU). You lose me when you narrow your focus to only what you think the game should be or else the devs aren't doing their job, because you know that this is not how a business like EA can market their product, especially if the numbers are favoring other modes to sell the product. I'd like to see them do this; why don't they have this feature; do others want to see these things to me are all reasonable asks (in my opinion), but what you think the game should be may not be what roadman or odogg or phillyphanatic thinks the game should be, then we're arguing with ourselves. And isn't it the same thing when MUT players say the game should not have defensive holding, and we get all on their case about such a statement? That's the way THEY think the game SHOULD be.

All of it only serves to frustrate me and I now openly question the business practices of those responsible for making the game (not going to simply blame EA).

We get it that EA seeks to stack money for the franchise by spending money only on certain parts, but the games over the last few years have sold well enough for the devs to at least update the look of the damn game. These subtle changes is what makes the experience feel different from the previous games. They do interviews talking about all the work they do and all of that, but they are still using the same cutscenes from previous games and not even providing proper celebrations that they know we have been asking for since they have been the same for the last 4-5 games.

No, I'm not forking over $60 for a gameplay update, no matter how good it is over Madden 19. The problem is that it feels as if we have a Madden game that is nothing more than an update and the franchise mode proves this. Face of the Franchise is like a $19.99 DLC and the improved gameplay with some menu changes only makes this game a heavily updated Madden 19. Hell, it calls into question as to why Madden 19 was even released since Madden 20 isn't that different at all from a cosmetic standpoint in order for it to make us feel as if we bought an actual new game.
I can explain why it is like this. Its very simple. You see, most of the people buying the game have aged a bit. We have real lives now with real responsibilities. I couldn't give two sh**s about some cutscene, because after one hour of playtime I've already memorized when to push to button to skip as quickly as possible.

If you read between the likes, the data suggests I am in the VAST majority. I don't have time or desire to watch a movie. I want to play the game. Anything that speeds it up is welcome addition.

In fact, I would go as far to say if madden 20 is madden 19 with massively streamlined gameplay to get through a full game (15 min q's, all-madden default) quicker, then I'd happily pay more than $60.

It's a game. Gameplay first. Cutscenes never.

I’m one of those people who have aged a little bit. My first Madden was 99, the first with a franchise mode. You could only be a coach and when you got fired that was the end of the mode. I had an Eagles franchise and the cardinals drafted a running back named Paul Cannon. Dude was a straight beast and tore me up. I tried trading for him, but the cpu didn’t accept any offer.

Today with me just turning 30 a few days ago and with a full time job and girlfriend with two kids, I don’t have the time I used to when I stayed up late up and woke up early just to turn on Madden and continue a franchise. That said I still want franchise to be as immersive as it can get. Sure it helps that games take 30-45 mins instead of an hour plus, but give us options. MLB the show has quick play and broadcast mode. What Madden did was make quick play default and has no options to change it.

Sorry for rambling, but isn’t this what a forum is for?

To the OPs initial point in his threads as well, options to be able to enhance the experience, whether to turn something on or turn it off or reduce the frequency, would always be a welcome thing and doesn't need to be on just what EA thinks is the major features for the new release. Consider toggles for other less glitzy features to give the user the experience they want as long a these things don't break gameplay functionality.

Well happy birthday (belated) and at 30 it is hard for me to say you've aged (ok maybe a bit), sonny, with me turning 55 Saturday. Now I'm sure someone will jump on and chide me for being a young whippersnapper....(anyone? please???)

Dude, you are that person that EA relies on to rip fans off year after year. You think cutscenes and updated celebrations don't matter? How about you do what I did last night and fire up Madden 19 and then Madden 20, and you tell me why in the hell would you give EA $60 for a product that hasn't really changed?

Yes, I'm a franchise guy, but this idea that franchise is not much is total BS. There would be ZERO reason to include it if it isn't worth much. They have been lazy with it because they sacrifice it for other modes like Longshot and Face of the Franchise. You may not care for new cutscenes and other cosmetics like celebrations, but I want a reason to spend $60 on a Madden game and they haven't given me one. Yes, there are improvements and it plays better than 19. But, it is a $30 purchase at best given how similar the game is to Madden 19 in many ways.

Everyone has different reasons for buying Madden, but people need to stop and assess what they are paying for. I did that last night and I'm waiting for a discount later in the year. I can't get pass how a number of things have been removed in the gameplay that takes away from immersion. Even the AI coaches make boneheaded decisions at critical points and it makes no sense. The focus has been in places that it doesn't need to be, so we consistently get an inferior product every year due to blind allegiance by so many gamers.

                          Time for change.

While I certainly expect more, and while the game still has some serious flaws, I’ve done contract editing in franchise before. Every year I edit all 75 of the contracts on the preseason roster to mirror the real-life contracts. EA is usually in the ballpark with all the contracts, but the guaranteed money is usually wrong. I don’t mind if the other teams are slightly off as long as they are close in money and correct in remaining years (which EA successfully achieves).

Editing the 75 contracts for 1 team usually takes me about an hour. Doing that for the other 31 teams would take me 31 more hours, which is what I’d have to do to simulate the 2019/20 season on M19 (in order to have accurate free agency and draft needs). My time is definitely worth more than $2/hour. So if M20 were the exact same thing as M19, but with updated contracts, then I’d still buy it.
