Interesting... so you know their plans for next gen? can you elaborate on how they're not fixing these issues that you speak of? If you have articles or gameplay that would be great to see as well. Since you're so confident in this you must have seen and read more than what everyone else has.

Everything on this site is another vent thread right now. It's ridiculous. There should be two stickied threads:
- Madden 21 - Discussion of the game... if you bought it
- Madden 21 - Whining and Complaining thread

That's just the thing. In order for them to fix those things, they will have to "re-write the code from scratch." (Now, I don't know anything about that stuff, that's what people around here say.) But if they have to re-write from scratch, that means, it's going to take 3-4 years for them to "figure out the new hardware" (again, that's what people around here say.)
And to get back to my point about limited resources, they cannot do that because they keep introducing stupid game modes.Comment

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?
The launch did not dampen my view of what is to come. They past 10 years dampened my expectations.
I have a view, that many should also take, is that EA will do as little as possible each year to sell a game. Just understand this, and you will not expect much. They will come up with ideas to try to get more casual fans involved, and those modes will get a significant portion of the focus each year. Probably will mostly be half baked and scrapped. Some will hit (See FoF and I think the Yard will last).
The competitive side/youtubers will continue to drive gameplay focus updates, and will drive every gameplay patch that is released.
The gameplay upgrade this year was noticeable if you gave it an honest chance. That may be something to build off of if they can find a way to get around the multiple player animations that drive this game. Sure, there are still bad blocking schemes and poor coverage elements, but it is noticeably better overall than 20 IMO.
All in all, you should never expect much anyway. And you should always demand more. But this goes for every company that you buy from.Comment

Definitely an off-brand opinion, and not one I agree with, but I definitely respect your adherence to it. I'd love to hear your reasoning for your "dark days" designation in a situation that wouldn't derail the thread.
Threads and forums are literally for expressing opinions on their dedicated topics, venting is kind of the point. Sure, there is wanton bellyaching and over-appraisal, but there is just as much valid criticism and acclaim. Not sure what the expectation was around release.Comment

The expectation is that the Impressions thread doesn't turn into an angry mob of anti-EA clowns that haven't even touched the game... Nobody is asking for a praise EA thread, but having a spot to actually talk about the game without all of this whining from people that haven't even played the game would be nice.Comment

Nah but my expectations already weren’t high since they announced faster load times as one of the big features.Comment

I won't buy on this gen.
I think I may on next-gen. I finally bought a 4k tv, and I want to see if the 1.21 gigawatt graphic capability on the next consoles can get the DeLorean to 88 mphYou want free speech?

What if the impression is that "the game is a lackluster mess and i'm fed up with it"?The expectation is that the Impressions thread doesn't turn into an angry mob of anti-EA clowns that haven't even touched the game... If you've played the game then that's awesome man. That's what the thread is for. It's not for posting random youtuber impressions and links to trending hashtags about NFL dropping EA. It's an impressions thread - good or bad. But it's not a thread to dive into how EA has lost their way since the PS2 days and blah blah blah for the 10,000th time. We all know that. We all want EA to be better. We all want Madden to be better. Currently it's not so let's talk about the game we have.Comment

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?
For me, it puts a little more pressure on next gen. I came in expecting more of the same for Current gen Madden 21. I think most people didn't believe there would be a jump from Madden 20 since typically final major release of generation, there's not much innovation. I haven't played it, but after watching videos, it still looks like Madden. I think issue is the combination of general hate towards Madden & exclusive License, lack of franchise updates & focus towards FoTF, bugs/glitches present. I think some had too high of expectations for current gen M21. Like when the first gameplay trailer dropped and people said graphics looked the same. I think they were already thinking ahead to next gen.
Realistically, I see next gen M21 as a higher graphical fidelity port. Where it takes advantage of next gen hardware, but nothing else "new". I feel a good next gen release would make up for the current gen release. I hope the modes aren't just a copy and paste. Do we even know what exactly transfers over to next gen with "Madden NFL 21 Ultimate Team binder content and Madden Points will transfer. Progress in certain Franchise modes can also be imported from current generation to next generation"? What is "certain Franchise modes"? Does it have to be cloud saved Franchise modes. Is FoTF a copy and paste on Next gen and does that progress transfer over?. I want to buy Madden, but i don't want to buy it because it's option only and "good enough"?
For me even if it is mostly a higher fidelity port, I would still be interested in M21 if they can set up a good foundation for future. If Immersion promises with the hardware benefits can be kept, take advantage of more powerful CPU to have better AI and Physics and not rely so heavily on animations, that will go a long way. So even if it is a port, if they can get the on-field product headed in right direction with improved immersion and gameplay, that's a good start in right direction.Comment

When you're starting up a new franchise, there's a note that Cloud franchises can be transferred to PS5. Whether there are any restrictions or fine print on that remains to be seen. For me, it puts a little more pressure on next gen. I came in expecting more of the same for Current gen Madden 21. I’m curious to see what it looks like and how it animates despite the game they released. That said if you enjoy madden and it’s gameplay in its current state, I can’t see how you wouldn’t like an upgraded version on more powerful hardware considering it won’t be a rewrite.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?
It’s sounding like a port which to me would make it hard to get excited for next gen. Graphically I don’t see a giant leap from the ps4.
So if you don’t enjoy the game, it’s more of the same and even if you do enjoy it, it’s not looking like it’s going to be a game changer.
I run a game behind anyways. Just bought Madden 20 off eBay for $12 and waiting for it to arrive. Haven’t touched the series since 18 so I was kind of looking forward to it but the Madden 21 reception and the general feeling it’s basically Madden 20 has dampened even that for me.

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?
If it is a port, I am out. I am not purchasing current gen game and am hoping for very big improvements for next gen. If I am only going to get the same game with faster loading times, retooled menus, and a few gameplay tweaks, I'll hold off on spending $500 for a PS5.
