There are too many posts and threads like this that literally serve no purpose. If you're not happy with the game, that's fine. Either don't play it, or find a purposeful way to get your voice heard.

Don't clutter up the board for everyone else.

Man tell me about it. It seems the whole entire community makes threads to bash this game. Meanwhile I'm enjoying myself with the game. Its far from perfect I know that, but the game really isn't as bad as everyone who spew out critism toward this year's version of madden.

A mod has already chimed in and thread is approved.

One post claims OS doesn't let negativity about Madden stay on OS and that's why things never change, other posts pop up we shouldn't have negative threads because they are happy with it...
Unreal.

This thread is to simply point out what things could help with immersion if added or made better.
No one is bashing the game.

Crazy to see people in here calling this thread a waste when there’s a whole thread dedicated to the good little things.

But as far as immersion breakers:

Bad FA/Draft AI. Finished year one of franchise and the giants end up signing Aaron Jones......to sit behind Saquon. So the Giants didn’t realize they didn’t need ANOTHER top tier RB and Aaron Jones didn’t realize he’s not a back up RB.

Commentary. Don’t talk about it being a video game please. Don’t talk about players that are no longer on my team in franchise mode. Add a larger name database so there are more generated rookie names said.

Presentation. The wipes that say “Move the Chains” “Sack Lunch” etc have never been used in an NFL game. Use real broadcast packages and camera angles. Make award winners a big deal maybe some type of screen that shows the stats of the finalists for ROTY, DPOY etc.

On field. Refs, huddle breaks, better sidelines, a coherent and fully functional challenge system. We still need a ton more contextual animation on defense as it’s too easy for 1 offensive lineman to block 2 defensive players simply bc defenders get “stuck” and by the same token defenders constantly tripping over other players legs giving up huge running lanes. Animation dependence, if we are gonna have an animation based game we need a lot more animations or for different ones to trigger more. Weight and inertia still don’t seem to matter even though players feel heavier movement wise, they don’t feel heavier impact wise.

Equipment, equipment, equipment, if it’s already in the game make it available for all game modes.

I agree the forum is full of these “ what’s wrong with madden” threads. I would like to see more positive stuff, things like tips on dealing with bad salary cap situations, or maybe dealing with trades, or players favorite playbooks, anything other then Madden sucks.

Commentary that runs through key moments in the game. It's gotten worse when the removed breaking the huddle. The commentary will talk about a previous play while another big play is happening because time between plays is quite a bit shorter.

This is almost entirely a function of Charles Davis' audio cuts being ridiculously long. Like, so much absurdly longer than even actual broadcasters use in real games, much less in sports video games.

Real-life broadcasters can react to something on the field and either table or drop whatever they were saying (giving their partner the opening to come back later with a "back to what you were saying..." cue). For a video game, that same cutoff requires logic that would drive it...we've all seen that logic exists in other games, but even then, it's not infallible.

In that environment, most of your commentary cuts should be two-liners (or less). 90% of Davis' cuts are full paragraphs, and way too many are essays roughly as long as this reply I'm typing. Even if cutoff logic were introduced/improved, nearly everything Davis ever says would end up getting cut off, which isn't really much better in terms of immersion.

I actually like Davis as a broadcaster, and I don't hate him in Madden as much as some people (outside of most of the commentary they recorded 5 years ago being well past stale at this point). But for the love of all that's holy, get him back into the studio and just have him record a bunch of two-line commentary, and it would fix so much of this.

1) Players and coaches don't dress for the weather.

2) Weather doesn't effect game play enough. Wet, freezing footballs should be hard to catch, throw, and kick. I'd love to play out a slopfest like last year's Washington v. SF.

3) The celebrations aren't authentic. Kittle's first down celebration isn't in the game. Mostert's surfing celebration isn't in the game. The niners team slip-and-slide celebration isn't in the game.

4) The crowds and stadium experiences aren't authentic. Where's the niners' fans "Ahoo-ahoo-ahoo!" chant following first downs? The fog horn on all scores?

5) There's no half time show to break down key plays from the first half; no pre-game show to highlight key games, plays, players, injuries, etc. from your team's season; no end-season recap.

6) Injuries and wear-and-tear aren't realistic.

7) Not enough statistical other information about the players, especially in franchise mode where it would really help with immersion.

8) Head coaches do not add on-field value. This is a huge miss. For example, coaches should give boosts and negatives in realistic ways. For example: Kyle Shannahan could give +2 run blocking to OLs and +2 short and medium route running to receivers, but -2 to zone coverage and QB accuracy in 4th quarter. Perhaps these could tie into a coaching skill tree that would modify the stats over time.

9) There's no coaching trees and assistant coaches aren't represented at all. This is another huge miss, especially in franchise mode.

10) Team chemistry. Especially in franchise mode, there should be some advantage to keeping guys together, maybe it could tie into legacy, something. You should be able to make a triplet and keep those guys together for added benefits. Create your own Legion of Boom or Montana/Rice/Craig or Aikman/Smith/Irvin connect.

11) Plenty more....

This one could just as easily backfire in terms of immersion, because a lot of people have incorrect expectations about the impact of weather on the game.

As just one example, it's been pretty definitively shown by this point that rain or snow actually benefit a strong passing offense. That is, the conditions impact both offense and defense, but impacts pass defense far more negatively (basically, receivers know when a cut is coming and can better compensate for it in slippery conditions....defenders reacting to a cut or route break can't), resulting in a net boost to the offense.

But we still have everybody from announcers to old-school coaches to casual fans see bad weather, and talk about how both teams should run it more as a result. I'd be willing to bet that if they increased the impact of weather, people would complain that passing is too good.

Kicking, though, I can totally agree with. It's great that they removed a 5 mph wind adding 20 yards of carry or shear to kicks, but even moderately slippery conditions should make even PATs an adventure.

Actually they mentioned implementing a chemistry system into Madden 22 as somethimg that coupd possibly be put in. Fingers crossed it does.

It's also not binary.

I don't think Madden sucks. I do think it has a lot of opportunity to be better, including in terms of immersion. So even though I have no interest or investment in crucifying the game, I've found two things in this thread that interested me enough to poke the "reply" button.
