Re: Next gen pass coverage
You know what bothers me more than the coverage is the CPU QB throwing the ball away to frequently. In my opinion that needs to be patched. And that usually happens when you have good coverage. But the CPU QB does it to quickly

I think it’s a band aid fix to not being able to program solid QB AI. So they have them just throw the ball away to normalize the stats.
Another thing that’s annoying me is the late thrown deep ball by the CPU where the WR and DB basically have to stand there and wait for it to fall, but the DB for some reason can’t make a play on the ball, so it’s like an auto catch for the WR. Happens to me a couple of times a game.Comment

Re: Next gen pass coverage
Man defenders stopping mid route and letting receivers run by them, Cover 4 defenders chasing shallow routes across the field, flat defenders covering deep routes, hook zones standing behind people and not playing the ball....
No. Pass coverage is definitely broken. Just because it’s better than last gen doesn’t mean it’s good. Slightly better crap is still crap.
The backside safety will cut the solo side WR on any under route. The solo side CB replaces the safety, and is now responsible for the vertical of #3.
Quarters Solo Check:
The solo side wr is locked in meg coverage. Meg is short for man everywhere he goes.
Palms Special Check vs trips:
An x-out concept on #1 to the trips side, which allows the slot cb and trips side safety to still play palms on #2 and #3. With the X-out on #1, you can say the new #1 & #2, since he's no longer part of the count.
In all of these examples, you will see a safety or CB running with a shallow route.
With all of that out of the way, there's not one coverage programmed properly. The Cover 3 trips check has been removed from the game, no one matches #3 vertical and back. Even in Quarters, the vertical and back (known as the Special route) of #3 will not be matched.
There's no viable way to play trips or bunch formations. The Box check out of quarters has not worked properly in years.Comment

Re: Next gen pass coverage
I seriously must have the "unicorn special edition" because I honestly see the things you wrote MAYBE 2 times a game and that's very acceptable. One other thing I do is I adjust the drop depths, to 5 yards 5 yards 10 yards.. I'm telling you maybe I need to stream a game and post it???!??!

Re: Next gen pass coverage
From he few games I played on he next gen I will say there has been games where my defense has played well and the coverage was great, and then others where it looked like current gen. Definitely needs to be looked at more
And as for the qbs throwing the ball away, yeah can be annoying but would rather have that than the qb statue glitch sack. Maybe can edit their traits to have the “throw ball away” turned OFFComment

Cover 4 Cut (Quarters) vs trips nub sets (solo wr aligned attached or close to the core):
The backside safety will cut the solo side WR on any under route. The solo side CB replaces the safety, and is now responsible for the vertical of #3.

The solo side wr is locked in meg coverage. Meg is short for man everywhere he goes.

The last game I played before I laughed and turned the game off, my safety (who was in Cover 4) chased the TE who was lined up on the opposite side of the field on an out route. The slot receiver that was lined up right in front of him ran a route right up the seam for a wide open TD.
I wish I was making this up.Comment
