Warning: No off mode on getting fired in Franchise Mode

For those of us doing rebuilds, do NOT click on the GM scenario that talks about you being close to getting fired. Even if you have Coach Firing "CPU ONLY" or "OFF" in settings, Andre on Twitter said the coach firing setting does not apply to scenarios, just overall performance at the end of a season.

In other words, there is no workaround to "Getting Fired" in Franchise unless you just skip the GM Scenario.

This is going to be an incredible headache for a lot of fans who aren't aware of this and spend hours on rebuilds, so want to give people a heads up since EA is not fixing it and in fact does not see it as a bug.

      Thank you!

It's incredibly stupid how they decided to word it, and honestly a dumb idea in the first place. Why would you want a scenario where every single game is a must win .. or the game is over? Even when I get fired I simmed for weeks on end and never got offered another job, shocker bc I was a first year coach.

Even in theory, if you make your goal "win 4 games" there should be no scenario where a first year coach gets fired on a clearly rebuilding team.

I’m trying to decide if I will miss the player interactions enough if I go with Owner Mode instead. Like I’ve said, I like the press conferences and those things but I do think they’re probably repetitive and not very deep.

For what it’s worth, I just tested this. Got fired by the Bears and went to create a new coach. It gave me the option to take over the Bears with their current new coach or create my own. I chose current new coach and much to my pleasant surprise it was Ron Rivera, who is exactly who I’d have chosen to hire. Coincidence for sure but I basically have no issue with this as long as I can just play as the team I want.

I'm close to getting fired as the Lions HC, so if I get fired I can create my same coach and take over again as the Lions HC? Does it take you right to create a coach?

So as long as you skip the scenario, you’re good?

Correct. Same with the player retirement scenario. Skip it...never open it and it will go away and not apply.

I have no problem opening it....it we suck....we deserve to start over with another coach....and grind again with the coach tree. To me it makes it a living breathing universe.

But everyone should play the way they want. So if you don’t want that to happen....do not open it!!!

If we can stay with the same team, I may just replace Shanahan with myself if he gets fired. That could be fun.

You absolutely can. The moment you get fired…..retire him and then create a new custom coach to take over the Broncos!

But this works for offline franchise….cloud franchise I am not sure how to work around that.

Yes. Just had it happen to me in the post Big Ben era with Tomlin. I sat down with the GM for the first scenario where they warned me of getting fired. The second one where I lost more than they wanted, I just skipped and didn’t get fired. The Steelers would not fire Mike Tomlin for going 8-9 with Dwayne Haskins. I’m going to try to be realistic with when I accept this scenario

Agreed.. I like realism but I took over an 0-3 Lions team with a ton of injuries and I've only won 1 game so far, but I don't think they would fire a 1st year head coach during the season.

Thanks.. I haven't had the 2nd scenario yet where I actually get fired so if that happens, I'll just skip that. Who knows maybe we will go on a winning streak.
