Can't complain about the game play after this patch though. Played my home opener Jets vs Panthers last night, and a great game of football was was displayed.

Ended up having 3 penalties generated.

Anyhow, EA definitely has the game feel down pretty good with this one, no question about that. It always leaves me wanting to play more.

Very VERY disappointed that the game STILL shuts down my Series X during gameplay. EA has really dropped the ball and FAILED with this game this year.
Please do NOT comment about how it's my system or me or where it is or what I have plugged in or ANYTHING, really, unless you understand my frustration and agree that series X shutting down is a problem.. Well documented, BTW on EA forums and still NO answer or even an APOLOGY from those "designers" behind this wreck.

I keep hearing about the Xbox Series X completely shutting down on people. There's a thread on the NBA 2K forum with the same issue. Is this more of a Microsoft problem? I've never had any shutting off issues with my PS5.

I never (knock on wood) have Madden crash on the XSX. Weird that it's happening to some, but not everyone. I would assume it's a Microsoft issue tbh.

I am not an EA defender and do agree that they could be better at communicating, but I have worked for two of the largest most well known IT companies in the world and I can assure you, the days if going out and getting new headcount whenever you want or need are gone.

Even, and maybe especially, the biggest corps are cutting back on resources or pushing to low cost countries. I can't tell you how many projects I had that missed critical dates due to the restrictions on hiring.

It’s not a Microsoft issue or something else within the core system would re-trigger the event. I have had it happen once, I am not sure what caused it. I believe I was playing franchise with a DL roster from the community. Was doing all my preseason cuts and signings and it crashed straight to the dashboard.

I think using community rosters was the culprit due to the fact there was a bit where EA had issues letting people DL them? Who knows. At this point it really doesn’t matter. We are all playing the Beta build of this game anyways. The release date for Madden 22 is and always was October 22, the NFL just contractually forced EA to release in August. That’s my take on this issue anyhow. For this that say “I played the Beta”, that was more like the “alpha build” lol FWIW it’s a fun game, however I am not touching it until the actual release in October so all my gripes and complaints will be held until then.

I don’t even blame EA at this point. They are who they are. I blame the NFL. Not allowing more companies to develope is hurting the brand name. Sure, Madden generates good revenue, but not as much as it would with two more labels etc bringing in revenue along with it. Gives people more options to their perceived notion of how they want NFL portrayed. It was like the MLB2K vs Show way back when. I was one of the few who actually preferred MLB2K7. Loved it. The last MLB2K was also one of my favs. (The in between releases sucked, and pretty much sums up EA current track record)

I know the Show folks would say I am a bastard child for saying that but it was just my preference, which the beauty of multi release titles. So thanks to the NFL, which can’t even get anthems and it’s own league right, we are robbed of this ability as consumers

According to the notes, this update only changed behaviors of the players in deep third zones. So it depends on which area of Cover 3 you are having issues with.

Does this patch apply to last gen (PS4)?

Does last gen have same / similar coverage issues to current or are they more rooted in new gen's physics engine / player movement?

3 penalties is nothing to celebrate. It doesn't even remotely represent the real NFL.

Maybe you should spend your time playing something else, then? In regards to penalties, Madden has been this way on & off for the better part of 15 years now. The fact that they *should* be better is irrelevelent when faced with that reality. If you're buying a video game for a simulation of NFL football that has never once had penalties to the extent that you want, then at some point it's on you for continuing to play a series you're not happy about because you should know by now what you are getting year in and year out. Based on your criteria, as stated in your post, this game has been unplayable to you since at least the G.W. Bush administration. By all means, continue asking for it, but do not be surprised when you don't get it and don't ever tell someone they shouldn't celebrate their joy.

If the guy you responded rudely to is happy with 3 penalties per game, then who are you to tell him he's wrong? You don't even know how long his quarters are, or what his settings are. Instead of ****ting on someone's happiness, maybe just ignore the post next time and move on.

I'm not happy with 3 penalties, I was just reporting what had happened. I'm still using default slider settings, and wasn't expecting to see a bunch of them after the patch.

Still needs something done to improve this area.
