Custom playbook question
I've created a custom offensive playbook. It has some formations I do not want to use. I can remove all but 1 play in these formations. I am told I can't remove the last play because they need to be replaced by other plays that are designated for instance a medium range pass. Am I supposed to assign plays to a game plan and rate the plays that work in certain situations so I can remove the unwanted formations? Seems to me in the past we had the option to just remove entire formations except for the ones designated for audibles.Tags: None -
Re: Custom playbook question
Possibly its the only play in that "gameplan" situation? For instance if I only have one play in 3rd and short, I can't remove it. -
Re: Custom playbook question
You are blocked from removing a play from your custom playbook if it is the last play remaining in one of the many gameplan contexts. Add more plays to that context using the star ratings to remove the play you don’t want.Comment

Re: Custom playbook question
Incorrect. You are in fact able to use a custom playbook on both offense and defense in Franchise mode during season and playoff games with no limitations.
There is one significant out-of-game limitation with custom playbooks specific to Franchise: the Formation Subs feature in Franchise requires you select one of the 32 default playbooks. Your ability to make formation subs is limited to the formations available in the stock playbook you select. When using custom playbooks, formation subs will apply in-game wherever there is overlap between the formations in the stock playbook and the formations in your custom playbook.Comment

To clarify. If I customized KC - Andy Reid's playbook, but in my scheme as the Rams, it says LAR - Sean McVay playbook, then it's only going to let me set subs for the plays/formations per the LAR - Sean McVay playbook and nothing else. To be able to get the most subs, I need to change in SCHEME that I use KC - Andy Reid playbook.
Truly, though, yeah, any extra formations you add to your custom playbook, you will not be able to sub for those plays/formations unless you know which coach they come from, and you can select that in your scheme instead. But, the trade off is that you now can only sub for those and/or whatever formations are stock across the board that every team has, anyway.(...brought to you by Carl's Jr.)Comment

Re: Custom playbook question
This might be a little time consuming but this is what I do when makeing playbooks.
I look through all of the sets and formations and make a list of the ones I want in my playbook. Then I look through all of the coaches and choose the one that has the highest number of formations in their playbook.
Delete out what I don't want and add in what I want that isn't there then set that coach as my scheme. This presents me without any issues in what I remove and given the issue with formation subs gives me the greatest number formations that I can formation subComment
