Ive basically stopped scouting. I ignore the whole thing. It’s so time consuming and so boring, it’s not worth doing.

Because as is, the new scouting method is terrible, and even at best if you got decent info (you don't) its incredibly boring. As someone who looks at the draft as my favorite part of franchise, I can't believe how much this update ruined franchise for me to be honest. I just have no desire to engage in it, because I know in the end it just comes down to a lottery by drafting based on combine numbers, so why put in any time. I just wait for the draft at this point and look for people with decent combine numbers who are available each pick.

This is pretty much where I am at, at this point. Just too time consuming and I get decent results just skipping it all and waiting for combine scores.

Flipping through menus is a major chore, I hate that there isn’t just an “OLB” group or broader groups in general, the mock drafts are pointless, the notes say the same thing over and over and are often inaccurate, and if you back out of of player focus menu you just lose that focus benefit all-together.

Yikes - not sure who tested this at EA, but yikes (I’m guessing no one did).

I wish I could just use the old system, lol

Sadly, I've foudn it too hard to draft for every team like I used to.

Also, with HC being fired even if you turn that feature off, it makes roster construction a mess.

Almost all of the logic and mechanisms EA has used to update Madden are still years behind. There should really be LBs as a position group (with some hybrid/box safeties getting mention in this group or as a sublb), EDGE rushers/5-tech, 3-tech(one gap tackles), NT and 4-tech(two gap tackles). These should also be coded into teams personnel groupings based on scheme so that drafting for your schemes is much more intuitive. Instead we have 3-4 teams drafting 4-3 or cover 2 style "outside" linebackers.

Everything you mentioned is of no importance to EA or the NFL. Honestly the way the NFL season has gone on with all the consistent drama off the field and the NFL basically ignoring it I have no faith that they give two ****s about anything with madden except the size of the money bag each year. Most of us have been lifelong NFL fans either hard-core or casual but the older I get in the more I watch I realize how corrupt the NFL is on Amazon and Walmart level really. The owners put the commissioner in place to make money for them and that’s exactly what Roger Goodell does each year. It’s disappointing that everything you mentioned yes so basic as far as real NFL football yet seems like it would take a miracle for it to be implemented into the game.

Especially when those menus are super slow and without any QoL features like Madden's are.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update

Overall I like the scouting update it's a good first step but it needs a lot added to it (most which probably never will be). I'd love to see the following added:

              - Actual variety in scouting reports that actually relates to player ratings. Right now scouting reports are virtually the same for every player. There's little variety and they don't seem to actually mean anything.

              - Private Workouts - limiting it to 3 is just odd. I would also love it if you could actually see them working out and use them in scenarios. Last gen games for other sports have had this feature and it always added a level of realism.

              - Draft busts. Every year there's multiple first round picks that don't pan out. For this they would need to have some way to hide ratings.

              - CPU logic. Draft logic is awful right now. Teams who drafted QB's last year will take QB's again. Some teams will take two QBs in the same round. And then there's the trade logic, they took it from unrealistic one way to unrealistic the other way. Now trade offers for the #1 overall pick are a 1st and a 5th if you're lucky.

              - less reliance on the rpg elements.

              - draft show of some kind.

              - A completely revamped draft. The draft is the second biggest event of the year in the NFL. In this game it's a boring screen.

I would like them to add in players college stats and award and injury history and have it effect there draft stock..Up and send in the mock draft in a realistic way..Redo the injury system it's a mess and not real

Would love to see prospects' stats from college. Adds another layer of decision making. Do you draft that genetic stud who couldn't perform to his measurements in college or do you take the lesser athlete who just flat out produced?

So much is missing that it’s clear adding depth will never happen. If they had any intent to improve it, at least some of the stuff mentioned would exist. What bugs me most, though, is that you can’t even view basic combine stuff without going into each individual profile. Want to compare four corners? Good luck doing that without creating your own spreadsheet or pulling out a notebook.

The best hope we have for in-depth scouting and draft prep is probably the return of a college football game, wherein playing that game will serve as a stand-in for Madden’s lack of scouting.
