Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
That sucks. I cant lie though I havent touched Madden since the scouting update. I played a quick game with the Panthers after Cam signed a few weeks ago. I actually like M22 but there are just too many gaming options at my disposal right now and Madden just doesn't pull me like that anymore. For me personally, the updates probably wouldn't have done much, I wasnt playing the game much anyway, but it's a bad look. I cant lie though I'm more excited that the devs were moved to NCAA than disappointed about not getting whatever was planned for franchise. Madden is just at a place for me where it "is what it is" and I accept that.

Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
The ONLY good thing coming out of this is the fact that NCAA Football is back. It's my all-time favorite series and can't wait to play it. I'm sure it won't be what I expect it to be in my mind. But, to be able to play a college football game that's not 8 years and older will be a treat.
With that said, this is a terrible look...to pull the plug on features that you used to advertise your game, and make that decision after you've gotten people's hard earned money...that's wack!"Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
They could put out a reskin of the 360 version of Madden 06 and people are going to rush out to buy it purely because of the NCAA name. That game is going to be a massive disappointment when it comes to gameplay. But if NCAA 14’s gameplay can get a pass for all of these years, so can the new one I’m sure.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Here's my thing with this... I bought NCAA 13 a year or so ago to have fun with the scouting, but it didn't hold my attention because the generated players were so terrible. No RB's had better than low 80's speed. The game was so broken it was pointless to play it.
I'm not sure how anyone can expect the new college football game to be any different with what we have experienced with Madden. All the hype and all the promises of the new scouting update resulted in what? The best part of the feature seems to be that we know less than we did before... but if we just didn't scout players before than it's roughly the same system... So all of that and we're given a broken feature that isn't getting bug fixes.
How can we expect the new college game to be different when it's the same devs working on it and the same trash execs in charge? Clearly the college football team isn't as big as it needs to be for them to release the product they want. If it was they wouldn't be stealing madden devs to work on the game. A full madden team couldn't get us a game that works right but a partial college football team is now expected to? I don't buy it.Comment

Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
Not a single gameplay aspect wasn’t done better in other NCAA’s. Particularly on defense which was absolutely horrendous. If there had been an NCAA 15, the gameplay of 14 would have been easily forgotten.
The Dynasty mode is the primary reason that game has lived on. If the new NCAA has a copy and paste of that, that would be a pretty good thing (im afraid things will be stripped down). A copy and paste of gameplay would not.Comment

Not trying to be negative but how can anyone expect ncaa to be any better than madden? Same team and devs and ncaa has 4x as many teams to code for.

Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
If NCAA is nothing more than M22s engine with Dynasty and the college atmosphere like before that's all I need. I dont have any major gameplay gripes with Madden. I enjoyed the old NCAA (and Madden) games with their issues. The gameplay wasnt perfect or even great then, I dont think. But I had fun. I still play NCAA 14 on my PS3 occassionally. I'm just looking for a fun game experience now. If NCAA doesn't deliver that experience then cool. The PS5/XBSX have some heavy hitters coming the next few years so it won't be a huge loss.

Like I said in my post, I'm not expecting NCAA to be what I would like for it to be in my mind. But, that's my fav video game series period. And on that alone will be day 1 for me. That's just me. Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
First the story modes take up all the franchise dev resources. Now NCAA does. Franchise players are so low on the priority list. Pretty soon madden devs are only gonna be robots who's sole purpose is to create new Cards for MUT.

Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
They're not looking for that many people at Tiburon right now if you go by the EA Careers page. Now, that's not always everything because you can't always put up the number you're actually looking for due to internal reasons or only being able to support so many new people at once. But if the rumor is true, I generally go back to just standard iffy planning, which is a mainstay of game dev. Peeps just always underestimate how much time it will take to do X thing, and if you factor in remote work/Covid/general chaos still occurring, it's not that surprising.
As someone pretty keyed in, I also barely remember them saying the "three updates" thing since I really only remember them hyping the first one, but it's not exactly rare for a game company to change/break a promise like that even at the best of times.
This isn't me letting them off the hook, yada yada yada, but considering how little we have been hearing since the first update, this should hardly be surprising.
To the bolded, I agree in principle...but it seems to sting more here because EA just went through the fix franchise hashtag to the point they had to issue statements and promise to look at it. To then bail on it so quickly afterwards (it's only been 18 months or so) just makes their disdain towards the mode ever more obvious, particularly when we only got 1 big thing (scouting) and a few things that amount to a playoff bracket graphic.
I expected them to pat us on the head and play fetch until Madden 23 was out the door before moving on to other things and leaving it stagnant again.

Re: No New Big Franchise Updates This Year
For those wondering how NCAA could be a better game than Madden when developed the same one, I mean the gameplay will still have the same issues. I don't find the gameplay perfect but not as terrible as others like to think. Of course it will have the modern day lack of deep features and pointing you to ultimate team type money makers. But the big difference is the college system versus the pro system.
I'm not sure that NCAA 12 or 14 were so much fun because they were terrific games. They were fun for me because the process of turning over 15-25 percent of your roster every year, recruiting new players, and then watching those players develop and see teams filled entirely with players you recruited, it was completely addicting. It's just less fun having free agency, managing a salary cap, and having the difficulty of coding AI to be smart at these things come to the forefront. Not only is the process of recruiting more fun than team construction in the NFL, but it's less room for error when it comes to AI. NFL teams have finite resources when it comes to filing holes, and its harder to tell a team when they should be drafting a QB in the first round instead of another player. In NCAA, teams are just going to acquire whatever talent is obtainable. There is no big deal when a team with a 5 star QB recruits a 5 star QB. That happens in real life.
So with NCAA, the process of roster construction is simply more fun, and there is less chance that bad AI coding will really take the immersion out of that.Comment
