Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
Dead serious, what exactly did EA improve on in Madden from 21 to 22 other than coaching trees (which are ridiculously stale) and a scouting system that is awful? I see very little improvement to gameplay.Comment

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
Categorically false. You have the choice to play any other video game on the market, your console of choice is not limited to playing Madden NFL or nothing. For example: I remain extremely dissatisfied with Madden 22, so I am currently playing Gran Turismo 7 instead.
Heck, even if your desire is to specifically play video game football, you aren’t limited to Madden. The mod scene for older games is as lively as I can ever remember (College Football Revamped leads the way here, but older Madden and NFL 2K game mod scenes are also growing), and there are some independent game developers putting together increasingly more impressive efforts on the virtual gridiron.
I hope you are able to set your sights beyond the latest offering wearing the NFL shield and find a game you enjoy.Comment

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
This was the first Madden game I purchased in seven years. I only bought one iteration for the PS4, and this is likely to be the only iteration I purchase for the PS5. Those are the only two Madden purchases I've made over the last 13 years, and that's for good reason. The bottom line is the game still isn't fun. Subjectivity aside, the developers have never really understood how to make a good game.
And I don't blame the developers entirely. This is clearly a suit-led package that favors profits over product. But we're talking about a game that has had almost two more decades to innovate and improve upon a process that peaked back in 2007 or so. It's embarrassing for everyone involved the game hasn't gotten any better since the PS2/XBox era.
I suspect nothing will ever change unless competition enters the landscape. I would love for 2K to get back into the NFL game, if for no other reason than to push EA to do anything other than rest on their laurels. Madden is clearly designed from the ground-up for MTX and for P2P action. As someone that doesn't utilize those aspects of the game, it's pretty clear Madden is not a game designed for my (and others with similar tastes) playstyle. I wish it wasn't the case, but I acknowledge it happens and all I can do is move on to other things.
I could even overlook the shallow franchise mode if the gameplay was engaging and fun, but I don't find that to be the case. It's sluggish and unintuitive, IMHO. I can go back and play NCAA '14 and find the gameplay - even with all its flaws - more engaging. That's a big problem. Heck, the scouting in NCAA is a better system than whatever it is Madden thinks it's doing. It fails on multiple levels.
It seems they ran with the "carrot on a stick" theory to try and lure people into either buying the game or continuing to play it. The franchise additions were just sad, scouting included. If the old system was worse, well, I struggle to imagine how bad it was.
At this point in its history, I think it's okay to accept Madden isn't going to change. It is what it is. There's no reason to expect anything else. EA has already proven that for us, and if you keep buying it expecting more, it's beyond "fool me twice." If you still buy it because you enjoy it, then that's fine, but objectively this isn't a football game for everyone.Comment

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
Some will protest, but this part is pretty much spot on. Maybe people want an overhaul that turns back the clock 17 or 18 years, no thanks. I disagree thought in feeling that folks who are unhappy need embrace what is there. One should not play a game that causes more frustration than enjoyment. Even if it is the only choice for a current NFL football product, "hate playing" doesn't make sense to me.
I desperately want NFL game that allows me to have the experiences that Madden gave me back in the PS2 era, but with better graphics and gameplay. Its close to my number one desire not just in video games, but entertainment overall. But if EA refuses to give me that, then all I can do is wait until someone else gets the NFL game.
And I grow old while I wait, but I will not just happily accept a game that doesn't offer me anywhere close to the experience that I'm looking for.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
You are exactly right a person shouldn't play any game that cause as much frustration as Madden seems to cause for some people. However people are doing that. People are yelling and screaming at EA about franchise mode.. EA's business model is working for them and they know they aren't going to overhaul the mode so they add stuff within what they have and the people still aren't happy. So I guess I am saying either accept franchise mode for what it is and be vocal about things that EA might be willing to fix or don't play it and stop feeling the need to tell everyone how much you hate madden.
I was thinking, what if we all send Clint and co. copies of 07 on the ps2. Maybe they will play them and actually see what all we need in franchise.

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
I just want better AI logic, the new features to work well and more customization. There’s no reason for the issues with the draft, the coaching carousel to be so whack and the scouting to be so meh.
They don’t have to reinvent the wheel for M23; just refine the adds for M22. I’d be fine with them porting over the NHL customization suite and reverting to M21 draft logic while tweaking AI roster building. Add a little more nuance to scouting and allow AI teams to hire assistants instead of recycling head coaches.
I had no issue with what they added for M22. The problem - as always - was execution. To me, that should be the easy part to solve because of testing, but I guess not.
(It’d also be great if offline franchise saves didn’t corrupt. Actually, start there.)Comment

Developers can have all the ideas for FM, but it can quickly get shut down
in the sea of suits.Comment

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
Absolutely, 100% it's not a developer issue. Just imagine all the data that is collected from where the most traffic is occurring and the suits simply point their finger and say, "there!"
So the way I play this game, I guarantee no suit is pointing in my direction.Comment

It’s honestly so sad, I mean you can’t play madden without having UT in your face, MLB the Show 22 is over there showcasing new legends , while Madden locks them behind UT. I don’t care if half the players are generic , get as many on as possible and give me legendary teams.

Did they ever release a third update to franchise mode? What an absolute (crap)show.Comment

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
EA reiterated at the release of last month’s update that we should still expect one more franchise update for Madden 22.
Whether anyone is around to play it is another story, but it is indeed still expected. I assume it shows up sometime this month.Comment

The second one came out three weeks ago, I know that we are in the "F all things Madden" phase of discourse, but given how things have gone timeline wise this cycle there shouldn't be any expectation that it would have released yet.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Madden 22's Broken Promises Impact Franchise Users Once Again
Still hoping this last patch will go in on scouting and player profiles keeping track of all things happening in your franchise..Meaning in scouting I would like to see all players stats and awards won so we knw through story lines who won the Hiesman and all other awards..Just because you win the Hiesman it doesn't make u the number one pick..I want to see what players has done while in school to see why they are being picked where..We should be able to see all stats and awards won in all players award history..This same thing needs to be done better in Madden. I want to be able to see which player has won whatever award inside the players awards history whenever..FA we can't see the players stats or awards won during this time or any time really in the right way.. Probowls as well..Yes it reads if a player has made it but it doesn't tell us when it was won or attended... Probowls read as is like this. Probowls (1) But no year it was attended..This needs to be done for Superbowls,MVPs, SuperBowl MVPs..This is what I hope is in the last patch...Comment
