    Re: Graphics or performance mode?

So 23 is the same as 22 was assuming you have a 120hz capable display.
The difference between the PS5 and XSX is only
when running in Performance mode, XSX has the capability to run at 120 FPS at
1440p resolution, PS5 does not. They are the same when in Image quality mode.
the XSX does not run 4k 120 fps obv.

    PS5 Performance mode is 60FPS at 1440P

XSX Performance is 120 fps at 1440p

PS5 Image Quality mode is 60 FPS at 4k

XSX Image Quality is 60 FPS at 4k

Came across this and thought I'd share:

          -Performance Mode-

          Xbox Series X - Gameplay: 120 FPS at 1440p; Cutscenes & Replays: 60 FPS at 1440p.

          PlayStation 5 - Gameplay: 60 FPS at 1440p; Cutscenes & Replays: 60 FPS at 1440p.

          -Image Quality Mode-

          Xbox Series X - Gameplay: 60 FPS at 4k; Cutscenes & Replays: 30 FPS at 4K.

          PlayStation 5 - Gameplay: 60 FPS at 4k; Cutscenes & Replays: 30 FPS at 4K

Graphics mode on both do 4k 60 in gameplay but also 30fps in after play and cutscenes. Not a good experience having that dip all the time to 30

Madden does not run at 4k 120fps on any console

Your tv output icon shows 4k 120hz but that is not the in game resolution when in performance mode. It is 1440p and upscales to 4k by your console which is why the tv shows 4k 120hz but that is not native 4k

My rule of thumb is if I cannot see a noticeable difference in the graphics, keep it on performance mode. And in Madden I cannot see the difference so Ill probably keep it on performance.

Performance mode. There is a slight increase in visual quality on graphics mode, but not enough(to me) to warrant the lower framerate. The cut scenes in graphics mode physically hurt me. Having just upgraded from a Series S to an X yesterday, even performance mode on the X looks better than the S version looks, which doesn't have the different modes. It's been a win-win with the X. The performance mode has offered frames I am more used to having on PC and it looks better than the S.

So what if you have the Series X and your TV only supports 120fps in true 1440p mode? If you set your Xbox to output 1440 120fps and then run Madden what do you get? I assume 120fps gameplay and 60fps cut scenes? Just checking if that actually works that way.

I have PS5 and with the latest beta firmware it allows 1440p and so I can finally get 120fps but the individual titles have to support it....and only some do. The Show 22 does but I honestly cannot tell a big difference with that. I've heard Madden @120fps is a massive upgrade so I'm interested in hearing about the 1440@120fps on the Series X.

On series X it does not matter what resolution you set the xbox, if you run performance mode in the game you will get 1440p internal render resolution and 120fps during game play and 60fps during replays and cutscenes if your tv is 120hz.

You can set your resolution to 1080p or 1440p or 4k and the game will still render at 1440p when in performance mode. It will be 120fps if your xbox is set to 120hz regardless of resolution

If set to 60hz because you have a 60hz tv you will get 60fps in game play and cutscenes in performance mode at 1440p internally

In graphics mode you will get 4k 60fps gameplay and 30fps replays and cutscenes regardless if you set your console to 120hz or 60hz

PS5 Madden 23 does not support 120hz mode in any mode or resolution

VRR in the show allows 120hz output but the game still runs at a capped 60fps for series x and ps5

I just know that when I have my PC hooked up to my panel that supports 120fps, and I play a game that only hits 80-90fps, the monitor is still reporting 120 when you select information. I can see visible tearing and issues like that and PC tools tell me it's not hitting anywhere near 120.

When I play Madden on PS5 and I choose "graphics" mode the TV still reports 60fps even though in cut scenes it is clearly only 30. So I'm just saying just because your panel says 120fps doesn't mean the game engine can output that all the time.

when i'm playing a game on xbox (like cod vanguard/cold war) that doesnt hold 120 solidly, i can see my FPS counter jumping between 100-120.. the tv reports this in realtime as i play.

There are some HDMI 2.0 TVs that can display 4K@60, 1440@120, but can't display 4K@120. So to play Madden at 120 fps, I believe you would need to set your Xbox to 1440/120. When connected to such a TV, I don't think your Xbox will allow you to choose 120 Hz unless you first choose 1440 (or lower) resolution.
