I thought it was the game too, until I realized it was me...

The tipped ones sure, are frustrating and troublesome. Yet, make better reads! First 3 games, I tossed 9 picks with Wilson...about threw my controller out the door.

4th game, I really took my time and took what was given too me. Balanced my run attack with short to medium routes, and took deep shots while utilizing the pass mechanic by trying to put it where the defender isn't. Surprised myself by going 22-33 for 315 and 4tds with ZERO interceptions.

Sure, next game I tossed 2 first half ints, but I felt invincible from the last game and knew again it was me. Just can't throw into double coverage, and don't force it!!

I throw a lot of interceptions too but it's not because the WR doesn't attack the ball, they do from what I've seen, it's because I'm a dummy that throws things I shouldn't on occasion.

I've seen a pleasant surprise this year with just how aggressive the WR's are in Madden 23, in fact they have actually saved me many times from getting an interception.

I’m fairly certain interceptions are broken because I set the CPU slider to 0 just to test it and I’ll still get picked off multiple times per game. That shouldn’t happen if it’s at 0.

I tried 0 on AM and AP and still had a string of 4 straight INTS on both difficulties. I have no problem admitting a bad throw or bad read. I just can't justify it this time around so far. Very frustrating.

And of course, the slider doesn't work at all. On 0 and anywhere between up to 100 the interceptions stay the same, essentially guaranteed.

For my money, the slider(s) not working at launch is the biggest issue at the moment. Other bugs and imperfections are expected and will hopefully be addressed along the way. Not being able to customize “Madden ball” is a game killer. They have too many masters to serve to not be able to tailor the game to your individual needs.

As for all the “get better bro” comments, I’m reminded of the turnover fest that was Madden 08 on the 360. EA literally acknowledged the problem as I recall, but prior to that there were smart-alics on forums like this telling users “you’re the problem”. It wasn’t true then and it’s not true now. Some of us DO know how to read a defense and execute an offense in Madden. The juiced up defenders + lack of slider functionality is running the turnovers up. It’s a problem that needs to be fixed. And what’s better? If the slider IS fixed, then you can turn the INTs up til your heart’s content and make all the same great reads! Everybody wins! Lord.

I can't say I really agree with you on any of this entire thing you wrote EXCEPT the slider not working. I have moved it slightly and not really noticed much difference but I wasn't aware it didn't work. If that's true then yes that's something they need to fix.

I will say this though, Madden 23 is incredibly good this year and if folks find reason to not like this game then my advice is to simply quit partaking in "Madden pain" and start looking for another game. If you have a PC there are some options and there are new options coming from other companies too.

EA won't be the only real football game in town much longer...heck they even have to compete against themselves next year when EA College Football drops.

I hear you ODogg, genuinely. But that’s a “take it or leave it” approach and does a disservice to fans like me who generally accept the game for what it is. People bash M22 on this forum; I had a blast with it in my own little sandbox.

I said this in another thread: if you think I’m a negative bc I’m saying one thing has to be fixed, you‘ve got me all wrong. I notoriously have taken an optimistic outlook with Madden and have represented this forum at Tiburon in the past doing just that.

That said, an issue is an issue and this one is ruining the experience for a lot of gamers, even those like me who tend be glass half full when it comes to Madden.

It’s weird.. I swear CPU WRs and DBs attack the ball while the USER WRs and DBs won’t attack the ball.

The game is clearly tuned and designed for full “user” input.

Once I had this epiphany last night playing the trial…..it all came together for me.

No longer can I play Madden on the Next Gen console with a “no switch, no user catch” mentality where players ratings and “depending” on player AI will suffice.

Nope we had to crack our knuckles and go back to our beginnings on the Sega Genesis and PS1 where my input reigned supreme.

Once I started user’ing and switching on defense I was in the zone and playing much much better defense and taking control of my WR after I released the ball….yep I was able to fight and position my receivers better and use my catch types to battle for the catch.

It opened the game up for me…..and wow….it is now really fun.

It simply demands full on user input and skills and make no mistake the ratings matter….the difference between going and getting a ball with Tyreek Hill vs a rookie 5th round WR is stark.

Also you really have to anticipate the route on offense as the QB and get the ball out….quick. The new QB throwing animations are the truth. It was an adjustment and I still need more practice but it is damn good.

I have done a 180 on this game. Once I realized “no switch/no user catch” is dead and buried as an option on Madden 23 I started fully appreciating what the developers have done with the most important aspect for me.

Nah this **** is objectively broken. If the slider is set to 0 then INTs shouldn't happen but they still do. I remember in Madden 22 if you set the CPU INTs slider to 0 and you threw what should be an INT it would just bounce off the CPU's hands versus in 23 the INTs still happen and some of them are just very unrealistic.

Which console are you on? In the Impressions thread it seemed like every single user who said sliders weren't working was on PS5 while us Xbox users were saying sliders were working on our end. It wouldn't be the first time one thing works on one platform, but not another.

But seriously wtf? — Why do these threads always revolve around sliders and “legacy issues” and “bad ai” and never about how if you’re SUCKING HOTDOGS at passing maybe call better plays? Maybe execute better? Maybe go down in difficulty? Maybe stop sucking so hard? Maybe stop putting your QBA slider at 15?

I had three plays last night where I threw to a WR who literally stopped as the ball was almost to him, and even one where he stopped as soon as the ball was thrown, which allowed the defender behind him to make an easy INT.

But yeah. That’s totally happening for user skill reasons.

Interesting. I've got my interception slider turned down to 10 on the Series X and definitely see dropped interceptions now. On the default 50 I don't think I ever saw one ball hit a defender in the hands and not end up caught, unless it was a swat animation that put the ball right into the ground. However, on 10 I see balls that go straight into the LB's hands and find the ground safely.

I won't go as far as Detroit did and say it is purely a user issue, but I do believe some people need to step back and analyze what they are doing. Some people are saying they're throwing 3+ picks a game, 20 picks in 5-10 games, etc. At some point it is a throwing decision issue if you're throwing that many picks. Yes, the DB's may have too good of hands right now, but you really shouldn't be throwing that many passes that they get a catch opportunity on.

I initially had some turnover issues early on in the beta until I adjusted to the defense, which I think many people are adjusting to now with the full release/trial. It's a different passing game. Now that I am adjusted I've actually bumped up the coverage sliders and find myself throwing either no picks or just 1 pick per game. I'm not a god at the game either, I've just learned to throw with anticipation again, and I' dump the ball off significantly more than I used to, much like a real NFL offense does.

I also think this is another case of the word broken being thrown out a little too easily. If the slider is working, which in my experience it is, then it isn't broken if it doesn't adjust the gameplay as much as I feel it should. It works, just not in the manner I believe it should. I agree that a 0 slider should make every interception become a dropped ball, but if EA's intention isn't that, but the slider being lowered does reduce interceptions, then it isn't broken. Right now that seems to be the case in my eyes. It does make changes, it just doesn't make the changes many feel it should and I don't disagree there. I think the sliders should be much more sensitive than they are, all of them really, though the fumbling slider seems real sensitive this year.

My biggest issue with the interceptions as a broadcast cam user, is for one the interception slider is totally broken so whether you put it on zero or 100 you still throw the same amount of ints.

Cb's are super agreesive when the ball is in the air while the wr just short arms catches or just stops running the route all together. Then you factor in the momentum system where a pick or a pick 6 is a huge jump in momentum its almost impossible to get back on the side of having momentum when you throw back to back picks in 2 drives.

The new pass system is all but useless on broadcast cam so i cant even use that to help, but thats just a preference issue for me. Hopefully they patch the sliders and fine tune the cb aggressiveness or the wrs aggressiveness for a better balance.

That slider is nerfed….agree. I am trying other cocktails to see if we can lower the frequency of the outrageous picks.

Working on things man….but hopefully this is addressed at some point.
