Running game in Madden 23?

Hi there, just bought my first Madden in over two decades and I’m having fun with it. But I noticed that the CPU team hardly calls any running plays? 99% of the offense is through the air for opposing CPU team? Anyone notice this too?

I stopped playing D fairly quickly because all they did was pass and pass at-will and move the ball with no way of stopping them.

My games have been mostly balanced. Last game cpu ran 32 rushing plays. Occasionally I get a pass happy opponent but I just figure it’s their style. Never been alarming to me.

Are you playing Play Now? Any changes to game settings?

I see more balance with longer Q length and more accel clock. I do 8 min/13 sec runoff right now and see good balance.

I don’t find the running game to be all effective for the user nor for the CPU. Played a few game with longer quarter minutes and on average it’s 2.5 yards per run for the RBs. Need to find a slider to make it easier to run. Madden 23 is too pass heavy so far

What difficulty? On All-Madden with nothing but the INT slider changed I get killed by some backs. I have a bottom 10 run defense and the number 4 pass defense thru 16 games.

Also, I played against Trey Lance and if my memory is correct they threw the ball like 9 times that game so I’ve definitely seen games where teams run a ton. If they have success doing it, the do it a ton. Ravens gashed me for 200+.

I played the Giants yesterday and they definitely attempted to get Saquon Barkley going as opposed to putting the entire game on Daniel Jones.

I imagine CPU teams with good quarterbacks might “know” they have good quarterbacks and favor passing on that account.

I’m playing on PRO and adjusted the Run Block to 100 which gave me good results now thankfully!
