Re: CPU Quarterback Play (Behavior Under Pressure, Interceptions) Thread

I definetly see why some people don't see it as such a bug deal now as my guess all those people are on All Madden. I've played enough games on AM now that I can confidently say that if I never touched another difficulty I would also think there wasn't a problem with cpu thrown ints.

The unfortunate problem is AM has other issues that prevent it from being a viable option for me to continue playing much longer.

I had to switch back to All Madden and give it one last chance to save this game as even with all cpu sliders at 100 and mine at 0 on All Pro I was crushing the cpu every game. 2 or 3 pick 6s definitely didn't help. Lol

All Madden is actually perfect for difficulty when it's fair. First 3 games I won 2 lost 1. 1 was a game winning 59 yard field goal and the other win was by 10 points in between those I lost by a TD. All great, fair games, good stats.

Then comes the BS game that always happens. Burrow goes 17-17 3 tds at the half. I have 3 fumbles and 2 picks. Nothing I could do but sit back and watch everything go against me. Online can't block this game, dbs can't cover. It's just so lame and unnecessary I don't get why they programed it that way. Make it consistent.

Re: CPU Quarterback Play (Behavior Under Pressure, Interceptions) Thread

Momentum is a mofo in this game...so much so that I believe it's a bit too OP. I love the idea of momentum swings that can allow a team to break the game open. At the same time it shouldn't render the other team almost helpless; and it definitely shouldn't make it so a star QB lose all of his accuracy.

I livestreamed a CPU v. CPU game last night between the Bills and Rams in a test Franchise I'm doing. It was a really good game going into the 3rd quarter. The Bills were up 17-14. The next few possessions go something like this:

      1) Rams kick a FG to tie the score and the momentum shifts a few bars in their favor.

      2) Buffalo goes 3 and out. A few more bars in the Rams favor.

      3) Buffalo punts and there is a 9 yard return. Several bars added to momentum in Rams favor. Rams score TD to take the lead 24-17. Momentum bar full.

      4) Josh Allen is 16-27 1 TD and 0 INT's at this point. Next possession begins and Allen has 3 straight incompletions for a 3 and out. Buffalo punts, Rams go down and score and lead is now 31-17.

      5) 1st pass on Buffalo's next possession is an INT. Rams go down and score TD to go up 38-17.

      6) Next possession for Buffalo, a couple of nice runs and a couple completed passes by Allen, does little to nothing to reduce the momentum. Next pass is an INT.

      7) Rams run a few plays, attempt a FG and miss, turn it over to the Bills. Minimal movement on the momentum bar.

      8) First play on Buffalo's next possession is an INT.

So, over the course of that momentum swing with the momentum bar being full, Josh Allen went 3-11 with 3 INT's. That was too over the top in my opinion. The boosts for the team who has momentum are too great, the negative plays that the team with momentum has do very little to reduce momentum, and the positive plays that the other team, who has momentum against them, do very little do reduce the momentum bar. And again, I love having it in the game, and in a sense it was cool to see the momentum swing and the game broken open. But, for momentum to turn Allen into a bum incapable of accuracy felt really cheap in my opinion.

Here is the video. The tide starts to turn at the 37:00 mark of the video.

I do agree the momentum shifts really quick for one team, especially the home team...and seems forever for it to shift down. There was one team I played where they drove down the field on the first drive of the game and they had about full momentum already, my first drive I get past half field making first downs and the momentum was still way in the other teams favor

Yeah, it's crazy man. i'm sitting here watching this game and I'm watching how much the bar moves with certain plays. it doesn't really make sense to me. I mean a 9 yard punt return moved the meter like 7 or 8 bars in favor of the Rams. But, a 10-15 yard rush by the Bills only minimized it by a half to 1 bar. I don't know how hard it is to balance it out and I get what they are shooting for; but right now it's impacting the game in cheap ways.

I'm not good enough honestly. AP is more my speed because I don't really play that much. I got momentum in my favor and Dak just freaked the F out lol. I was playing as the Eagles btw.

It probably was the fact that a change in possession occurred and that's why there were 3 bars gained after a fair catch.

I play exclusively on All Madden Default sliders.

I have not seen an entire game where the CPU played like that the whole game.

I have seen DRIVES where the CPU plays that. Sometimes even back to back drives. But then I adjust to what they are doing, and things even out again.

Also, as for the Momentum thing, it is good in theory, but the balance just isn't there.

You can have a full momentum meter, throw a pick, and suddenly the CPU has half momentum. The next play, they throw a pick, and they lose 2 bars.

I do with an adjustment to special teams and injury and have enjoyed my experience. One thing I am not liking is some back pedaling stuff from the QB when receivers are mostly covered. Perhaps some effort in scrambling or throwing the ball away more would be good. Other than that I am fine with things but will probably fine tune things as updates come in.

Something I’ve tried on 23 (and I’ve done in the past) and it could completely be a placebo, but I try to restart my Xbox completely when loading up each session. I want it completely load up, not quick start from the main menu.

I started a game vs the browns today without restarting my Xbox and the first 3 throws were picks. I exited and did a full restart. The following game played well. I didn’t throw and picks and the CPU had 2. One was at the end of the game when trailing and trying to drive.

Again might be completely a coincidence but I’m going to keep doing it.

I’d say it’s a big placebo. It doesn’t matter if I close the app on the ps5 and put it in rest mode, or shut the console off completely. It’s just coded inside the game to give all defenders super glue hands.
