Honest question and not trying to be funny at all; but what do you think the response here would be if EA took away our ability to edit things ourselves, and we were just stuck waiting for them to patch everything, and we'd just have to live with whatever they did?

I know editing is a turn off for some, and it can be a lot of work, some unnecessary...but I'd rather have the ability to do some things myself than not to have it all all...and that's for any sports game I play, not just Madden.

Additionally if you wish to play full Q length games some editing is always necessary as the game is intentionally tuned to give results with shorter quarters and stats accordingly

Haven't had a lot of time to test this week due to work/family obligations, but has anyone tried toying with the DPI/OPI penalty sliders?

I've noticed a lot of my interceptions have been defenders "jumping" the route, tackling through the offensive player before the ball gets there, and then catching the ball themselves. It's a lot of stuff that would be a blatant DPI in real life but doesn't get called in the game for whatever reason.

I wonder if toying with the penalties will change either the penalty getting called or even player behavior like it has in years past.

Penalty Sliders are broken. I have the sliders moved up and play on 10 minute quarters and I'm still lucky if there is one penalty in a game. Besides roughing the passer that slider definitely works and I don't recommend touching it.

.. have the majority of the Penalties set in the 90s ( except RTP) and am seeing 4- 6 Penalties in most games ( 15m Qs) which seems reasonable.

Penalties seen tho will be highly dependent on the traits of the individual players on the teams ( disciplined/ average/ undisciplined) and tend to increase as fatigue levels increase.

They should never take away sliders or edits. The issue alot have with EA is the base state of the game. It's not just EA tho. Spectator mode on nba 2k etc shows the same unrealistic results. It's up to the user to make games play true to life. If sliders actually worked and Companies actually offered more difference In player types that function properly, games would be great.

I don't think the post was about taking away any ability to edit but moreso a complaint on how broken the game is compared to realistic football decisions etc. A 99 shouldn't mean perfect in everything but perfect in certain areas like irl, and meh or whateva is the case for other ratings.

Games these days to me are like Foosball tables. All dbs in one string that they boost or reduce that offer little realism. Instead of individual animations and traits etc, they create a boost and apply it to whomever is close enough to the mold. That's not realistic and doesn't offer enough of a difference between players. Stale is the word I'll use but with the praise small improvements get onto of the broken base, why change perspectives lol

It's like pass coverage and pressure. Forgot the blocking logic is majority broken or the dbs react on button press instead of real time tracking etc. The time in the picket is reduced and routes aren't as open so yaaaaay. Ok.....like enjoy I guess, but this is apart of the problem. Instead of improving the game by improving the animations etc lets just boost everything and they actually got praised an rewarded for it with more money. Sad days man sad days

Yes it is a lot of work and no I will not be doing it but as a computer/IT guy it is fairly routine that you post something that will provide potential help, whether or not it is a lot of work is upon the users view of time versus payoff.

Well unlike a lot of other folks here I applaud the original poster for posting this.

Yes it is a lot of work and no I will not be doing it but as a computer/IT guy it is fairly routine that you post something that will provide potential help, whether or not it is a lot of work is upon the users view of time versus payoff.

I used to do something like this when pass rush was broken. Every game I reduced pass block ratings by ten on any tackles who were below 92 overall.

They should tho. It does seem like they don't look into forums although they claim too. I know duece is solid but the overall employee base or final decision makers nah. No way these devs will continue to walk into the fire of interviews and critiques for this long for the same issues every year. They are focused on sales and it is what it is.

I think if the Devs wanted to make a realistic game they could, (well maybe with that old coding,

maybe not lol) it's the people above the tier of Devs

that are making the decisions on what is put into the game.

Duece once said for a multi xxx million dollar company doesn't mean all your

ideas are put into a yearly game all at once.

I'm not sure if they patched it, tuned it, it's my sliders or what but I played 4 or 5 games yesterday and seeing an accurate amount of interceptions now from CPU, usually 1 or 2 a game. I am throwing 1 usually, sometimes 2.

I still do see too much momentum and that can sometimes spiral into an unplayable game. They need to tone that down I think.

It’s been working for me. I also turn the cornerback linebacker and safeties traits to play the ball in the air = conservative.

For true superstar ball hawks I only turn it down by 10 for CTH,CIT and SPC.

Full disclosure I play on pro and my human pass defense sliders are all zeroed out.
