So based off Tarheel in an earlier post notating the different versions, I ran out and found an used M23 at GameStop just to test to see if there is any difference in gameplay from the Disk version 1.0.0.3 vs the original Digital version 1.0.0.4 and….

Default All-Pro Sliders, SIM Play Style

Everything from the AI is on point.
    - Peanut Punch
    - Post catch knockouts right at contact
    - AI Ball Carrier using crazy tackle avoidance moves, even on PR/KR
    - AI QB’s behavior in-line with their QB Style
***Cousins (Pocket Passer) even ran up the middle to avoid pass rush
    - Knockdowns & Swats if not facing the ball
    - Knockouts on collisions
    - momentum of Power Backs pushing the pile of tacklers

I keep telling myself not to buy Digital every year, get the Disk for this very issue.

Lastly, no major ratings/Trait edits needed so that’s a major plus.
OL SS Abilities finally have an legit functional use in slowing down that Pass Rush.

    - nice to see that some backups can have an impact during Preseason games.

I’m set with the non-updated Disk version and staying Offline.

I fully endorse this. I've been hesitant to say it until I had played/watched enough games, but the physical disc offline install, which is the 1.0.0.3. build of the game plays the absolute closest to the Beta we played in June on the field. Everything Khaliib said is true according to my experience.

As far as the interceptions issue, I honestly believe the main factor is Momentum. I think Momentum is very unbalanced and way too easy to go completely in one direction or the other. It should be way harder to get full momentum in your favor.

The lower you make the slider the more errant those inaccurate passes are. It would be nice if simply lowering it to say 46 would cause QBs to throw more inaccurate passes at a scaled % based on their rating.
This is the misconception about Sliders, they don't 100% produce an outcome (per say), they simply adjust the "chance" of an outcome and/or animation triggering.

The other issue is that Dev's adjust gameplay via the under-the-hood variables, so technically Sliders are not broken, because they've haven't had an resource dedicated towards working gameplay through them.

What we are seeing is that the Chance_% that Sliders applied in previous Maddens, is either applying smaller outcome chances or none at all, based on the elevated/decreased gameplay variable levels M23 are set at.

Fumble at "0" has players fumbling all over the place and in previous Maddens the Chance_% applied did not produce such an tangible outcome.

Even if they fix it it won't apply to existing franchises. I got tj watt climbing up the all time charts in 2029 but he doesn't get credit for his record breaking year. This is simple stuff that we wouldn't accept from an eighth grader but gets in Madden every year.

On another note, has anybody noticed any improvement on the oline with this update?

Are you usering a pass rusher? I have noticed for a couple of years that after you get a couple of sacks(doesn't have to be by the user) the cpu just decides as soon as you beat your blocker(usering) that the ball is coming out and would rather throw 6 interceptions than take another sack unless it is one of those keep backing up sacks. I think they made an adjustment a few years ago, the year before xfactors became a thing to reduce sacks and put something in the game to make qb's act this way. When you rush with a MLB who is assigned a man or zone assignment and beat your blocker the QB does not do this.

Jimmy's impressed. Jimmy might need to go buy a physical disc copy.

Does anyone edit the traits of the qb? Well when playing against the cpu I mean. Sometimes this will help with the way the cpu will throw the ball, the positive is I see a lot of downfield throwing, but just highly inaccurate, especially if its from a bad qb.

There's been quite a number of times the qb takes sacks rather than throw it in bad coverage, granted I am using Matts slider set which adjusts some things to help the movement of the qbs.

I'm starting to think the same. Even on ROOKIE level, trying all that I am and making it the best I can get it, still, the momentum meter when swung over halfway to either team's max is when the game starts to feel like it's a scripted vendetta with superhero abilities kicking in.

As stated elsewhere, I am starting to be annoyed by the momentum comment boxes, as well. If you have a RB in shotgun to your right, the box covers them up until you snap the ball.

Yeah. Kinda works that way IRL too. If you hit the QB a bunch they get sped up.

I don't have an issue with the interceptions as much as I had with the continuous dropped picks of the past, I just hate the fact that the DB's react with reckless abandon whenever the ball is thrown. The first step process is always clean when reacting to passes and that makes it an issue. If a DB is backpedaling, there is no planting of the foot, just pure explosion toward the ball, meanwhile, the receiver has to plant and depending on momentum, has to turn their body before even trying to attack the pass. That split second is usually exploited by the CPU's superhuman awareness. I don't know if there is a balance to be had that won't break the game in one way or another. The code almost feels written into the game that allows the CPU to react to your input controls. Any altering of that will probably make the game shoot to far to the left with pass defense. Having no other choice to limit the amount of successful catches. I think they need to readdress the aggressiveness of the receivers animation. I feel like that would kill 2 birds with a stone. If you increase the receiver aggressiveness, that may open the door for more pass interference calls - both offensively and defensively.

I’m playing on All madden default everything . Only thing I changed is human tackle to 75. Tackling seems better after the patch. All pro , pro and rookie feel too easy and I can run certain pass plays all day long on those settings with sliders too. The edge blocking is slightly better but at least it’s the same for human and cpu . I have no complaints so far after the patch.

                        Gents, two things:

                        1. Haven’t had time to get on yet, so does anyone actually have feedback on what the update has done for sure? Thread appears to have turned into what’s NOT in the patch lol (I think I already inquired about this).

                        2. Is disk version 1.0.0.3 in fact a better version? If I go and buy the disk version I’ll have to make sure I don’t ever slip up and load the game while the Xbox is online or I’ll automatically get the update correct?

The game I played today post patch was amazing. I posted about it in impressions so I’m not gonna double up. But if this is gameplay going forward in all in.

If you slip up and allow it to download a patch, you can just deleted the game from your system and then reinstall from the original disk. That is the magic of owning the very original game on a disc.

Now...I have to ask....are the version numbers the same on Ps5? Cause I checked my version and it says something like 1.0.0.01 or something like that. It's definitely not 1.0.0.4 like some have said the default digital version is.

Edit: Nevermind. I just found out that the latest Title update for PS5 is ver 1.02. So I guess the version on the disk might be 1.00?

Sounds good. That may be too much to do. From my experience, the game automatically downloads the update if the Xbox is online no matter if you boot the game or not, which means I’d have to delete and install every time I wanted to play a game lol (my series x is on the family tv in the bedroom so it’s always online for something, ie daughter watching pinkfong on YouTube , wife watching Netflix, etc)

The best way to do it, if you're going to keep the game on your internal storage is to disable automatic game updates. That way, whenever you are online playing other games, it won't automatically update Madden. Once you get the physical copy, uninstall your digital version, go offline and do a fresh install offline. That's how you get the 1.0.0.3 version. You'll just have to go offline to play.
