Re: Madden NFL 23 Patch Addresses Gameplay, Franchise Mode Issues, Adds New Helmets &

Just finished up the game, Packers did finish with 6 sacks, and Gary with 1, Smith with 2, but

didn't see the stuck in the mud OL like I did pre-title update.

I saw a lot of OL pick up blitzing LB's and any DL that were in the vicinity.

Packers increased the lead to 4TD's in the 3rd quarter(so much for momentum, Vikes

home team) and lost by 3TD's.

Cousins threw one more Int that I would question, but Jaire was side by side

with Thielen and Cousins threw it anyway. Jaire made a play on the ball and

Thielen just stood there with arms outreached.

3 int's and one I would question, not bad for tinkering sliders here and there.

      Totally agree with this.

Just haven't seen this revamped oline play but not complaining as I have little faith in EA and I'm not having int issues.

Those OL on All Madden aren't really playing at 80 ovr rating though

The game penalizes the USER team and boost the CPU AI team on AM

That's why on AM defenders won't react half the time on their own for USER Player.

Bump up PB to 60 and you'll notice a slight difference where the USER OL reacts better because they are no longer receiving that AM reduction penalty to allow the CPU to have the advantage.

I usually load a custom draft class from the file share and not the default one. I haven’t looked much at that yet. Someone else may be able to answer that.

The way it actually works isn't representative of the NFL though. It's a bad experience. It's either way too OP or just random, like you complete a deep pass and suddenly your team is more likely to block kicks? It doesn't make sense. If it's going to be in the game, it should simply be something like adrenaline that increases or decreases and is more specific to what's happening on the field.

At the very least it should be something you have the option to turn on and off. That way if you like it, you can keep it. If you don't, you can play the game in a more straightforward sim mode. Not complicated.

yep and one single act should stop momentum. like a big hit, or a FF, 30+ yard pass

instead it takes a series of plays and events to halt momentum.

HT should reset momentum too, imo.

its a good concept, but - like most of madden over the last decade - poorly executed

It’s not random at all. I watch every single tick of the thing and literally never have an issue with it. Agree to disagree I guess. I also think you are vastly overstating things to call it OP. It’s literally 1 or 2 effects and non of them are that bad or impactful, you just have to be aware of them and call plays and make coaching adjustments accordingly.

I also recommend making a habit of switching around between the different camera angles to make sure you’re seeing what you think you are and approach each (offensive) play the same as you would an at-bat in baseball: have an approach and envision the result of the play beforehand, recognize things like “ok if the heat hits me in 1.2 second then the throw needs to go here” etc.

If you’re gonna hit with me “I’m talking about I’m destroying the cpu bc of momentum” then whatever, disregard this post I guess.

I think most people have bad experiences with this game because they think it sucks and don’t respect it. I respect the HELL out of it and have awesome games.
                Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

I don't mean that Momentum is random. I mean the actual benefits you get from Madden Momentum (seeing passing targets, lower chance of fumbles, higher chance of blocking kicks) are just random/weird buffs that aren't correlated to what happens on the field, which is not how momentum works in real life.

I usually do CPU v CPU franchise and I can see a huge difference in how the game plays when Momentum hits. Whichever team gets Momentum early just starts piling on more often than not. (The interception slider being broken doesn't help either since those are such high-impact plays.)

Do you guys know if the new helmets are a next-gen exclusive? I'm not seeing them on PC after the update

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I haven't read 24 pagers of this thread but I had shelved the game and was away. Came back to the patch and decided to see if it was any better.

CPU Joe Burrow through 8 INT's to the Steelers. I threw 3 as Trubisky, this is with the INT slider at 0 for both human and CPU. 6 of these were off tipped balls. 3 of them were ridiculous plays by the defender including one by a LB who turned into Neo from the Matrix. Only 2 of them were legit bad throws right too a defender.

Game is still unplayable for me at this point. See you all again in a month with the next patch.

It’s been pointed out and discussed in numerous places…. It’s not just a “patch” issue. Many of us have discovered it’s a roster issue. Lower the catch attributes and traits of cbs and lbs and the game plays pretty good. Took me about an hour to edit the roster before starting my cfm. If you’re just waiting for a magic patch, you’ll be waiting awhile.

Game feels different than it did on launch, yet again. My defense has disappeared. I was actually able to have defensive battles and even had a shutout before, but now it feels different. Feels like I got duped yet again. Like they nerfed defense. QB’s feel robotically automatic again. I went from loving the game to despising it in a week. What happened? Didn’t say anything in the patch notes.
