Re: Madden 24 Beta: Franchise Mode Impressions and Mini-Game Rankings

Franchise mode is NOT about playing mini games! By bringing them back EA has proven once again they have no clue what the community wants.

Franchise is about being a coach/owner and controlling the off field workings of a sports "Franchise" by signing players, working contracts, trading, adding coaches and so on. It's not about controlling a player in any regard, if you want to play mini games, they should be in a seperate mode.

And "relocation" is still a joke. If they add expansion, custom logos and cities maybe I'd be interested....maybe.

    Cheers,

I want to see some draft logic updates. Nothing worse than editing a kid in the class to be your "career mode" player then seeing GB take the #1 HB in the draft to sit behind Aaron Jones.

I am going to agree and disagree here.

I agree that the mini games were ehhh at best in the past. Not a feature I would have wanted. But... This has been a commonly asked for feature since they went away. And has built up with increasing talk here the last few years. In this scenario, the devs have listened.

I am going disagree with your take on what franchise is but also agree. I disagree on your specific view of what franchise should be. Fact is that it is a different thing for each of us and that's what makes franchises mode what they are. A fictional universe for us to do our own thing in. I like to team build through the draft in all sports games and in 7-10 seasons of simming and controlling everything, I start playing with the team I created.

I disagree with your locked in take on franchise but agree that it is the way you want to play it.

I have learned over the years, don't tell people how to play the games they buy. They can play the way they want.

I’m surprised how much of a meh the mini games have gotten to be honest. I absolutely hate what the madden franchise has become going all the way back to the ps2 days. For me the mini games offer a quick pick up and play mode that maybe finally offers some fun factor i havent experienced with this game in so long. It’s literally why I’m even considering buying 24 at all.

I’m an odd ball here at os I guess but improved trade logic or different contract offers do nothing for me in comparison. I hang up the game before I finish week 3 every year because this game is tedious, repetitious and just not fun on the field

I think it's just because it's a simple way to have an off-season training camp. The jump from draft to preseason cuts out so much of the off-season. Is there an option to simulate training camp or is playing it mandatory to get the benefits?

I think a more immersive part of it should be is that all rookies have their dev traits hidden and you don't unlock full ratings until after training camp. You keep the letter grades you unlocked during scouting until you complete minicamp or at the very least preseason. The old Maddens also had players miss minicamp as holdouts for better contracts, players demanding to be traded and even players going to Hollywood instead of participating. Also there should be a risk for injuries.

I do have a few more questions though. Is there an opportunity to sign free agents during the training camp period? There needs to be an option at some point to sign UDFAs. Or a post draft free agency period. How are the load times? Are they quick and snappy loading from one to the next? Can you queue them up without having to jump into and out of menus each time you do one?

Hopefully there is some depth to it. I wish I had a code to check all this stuff out myself.

Were any new stadiums added to relocation? I hope it’s not the same five outdated ones they’ve had for years.

(Signed up for the beta, didn’t get a code.)

I don’t have a code either. I’m more looking at the mini games on their own without how they effect franchise mode or training camp. I’m basically at level 1 when everyone else here is at 50.

I need to find some reason that makes me want to fire up madden at all. I just finally bought 23 used 2 weeks ago. Got through the new passing tutorial and then played half a game before getting bored and switched to Spider-Man to work on my platinum trophy. Haven’t touched it since. That’s where I’m at. It’s nice to have a copy for when I get the bug to play football but I quickly get over it and move on to a game that I enjoy. Hoping the mini games can be something that changes that first and then I’ll worry about how it affects franchise mode

It really was a rage post for how ovejoyed and elated the writer was about mini games. They were meh at best when they were at their best and should have their own mode regardless.

Overall, it's the same ole same ole with this game. EA takes stuff out, they add stuff in (which was already in but they took out), they listen then they don't, you know the drill.

The best thing about this game is it's name and that really only mattered in the 90's when users actually knew who he was. It's yet again a hard pass for me.

                  Cheers,

The point of the minigames is to make training camp a thing. Training camp IS a part of Franchise, and so in that sense adding these games DOES improve Franchise.

I'm not gonna buy it unless that face editor is in for draft class. Don't need my whole WR room being the same looking dude after 2 seasons. This hasn't been touched in nearly a decade.

Back on the last gen for PC there was a way around it. Actually probably several, but one I used was to create a player and then edit in the roster tool in Excel to change him from a Face of the Franchise guy to a regular player. At least that's how I think I did it.

Can you edit players names from draft class and announcers will still say their name? They screwed this up after madden 20 never fixed it.

So in the news section in Franchise it seems Fred Taylor has had the same injury as every player.

He has one canned tweet…..come on EA. Details man…..details.

The news section IMO is really weak. And I hope it is truly in the Beta stage and this is not what we are getting.

                                If so…..IMO it went backwards.
