I know this doesn't directly answer the topic question (well it kinda does...lol) I started thinking about the great Steel Curtain of the 70's and thought I would try an experiment in M23.

I switched back to the 4-3 (which is what Steel Curtain ran) and tried it out in a quick game, and this JUST might have restored a little faith in going forward with M24.

While I do still enjoy the 3-4 concept, I want to try and bring back the dominance of the famed Steel Curtain defense of the 70's...having had the privilege of seeing this great defense growing up, I want to try my best to replicate this defense in M24.

Lions - take over NFC North, Hooker in Year 2 or 3

Texans - Lots of young talent + good picks in 24

Jets - try to win a SB and then replace QB

Falcons - Great defensive pieces added, fun / young talent on offense and may need to replace QB in year 2. Malik Willis and Trey Lance are interesting trade targets.

Okay also Seattle - killer offensive weapons, incredible secondary, some good LBs. In the trenches they are average at best.

and Geno…love the comeback story. Feel like adding Lance or Willis here to sit behind him / insurance could be fun?

A bit undecided at the Moment. I want to do a team from each conference. Narrowed it down to:

AFC - Broncos, Dolphins, Pats, Titans, Colts (storyline of Irsay sells team)

NFC - Bucs, Falcons, Rams, Washington

Washington would be interesting with the hint of a name change. I just don't know if that can be done without relocating them in game.

Never do my favorite team, Dallas. Maybe this is the year?

Likely the Ravens, im going to takeover the league with the elite Lamar & OBJ/Flowers connection along with re-establishing them as the best defense in the NFL. Failing that my next choice is to start with my hometown team the Bengals and finally get them a Superbowl win.

For my first franchise I’m either going to go with Green Bay, Chicago, or Pittsburgh. Then I’ll start another franchise later on with the Cowboys.

Biggest issue last year was how big name QB would be on the market in their prime like Herbert. I wonder if that will be fixed

Doing a main franchise with the Colts, especially if JT gets traded in real life. Probably gonna play with the Bucs to slider test before that gets started

Has/Will EA ever release the info on what gets you a dev game? Better yet, what gives you (and removes you) from getting dev at the end of the year...

I'd love to start with the Texans.. But last year my QB lead the league in yards and tds and didn't get jack... Nor a dev game all year. Kind of makes it pointless trying to do my franchise when I can't dev up my players

If I can find a way to handle the game this year, I’ll probably do a 3-5 browns run. Where I’ll take finances seriously and try to mimic Andrew Berrys team building model over his tenure in CLE.

Alternatively, the bears and Atlanta will be fun teams to try a rebuild with. Bears it’s all about maximizing fields and finding:developing young studs on bears D.

Atlanta you have London/Pitts/ Robinson for 3 years minimum here may be a chance to grab a QB like, Lance, Willis, DTR , and play death by 1000 cuts west coast play action dumps, heavy outside zone / stretch

May even bring Laviska Shenault over and try to use him how he was used in college bubble and screens.

Complement them with a burner like Calvin Austin or Hamler/ for shot plays


Lastly A Packers would be fun. Stud TE

The last prime of Aaron jones and 3 unique receivers (lumping Jayden Reed) in there

I usually pick a team for the QB and I've already played in past years the QBs I like the most that aren't too OP: Lawrence, Tua, Hurts, Murray, Herbert. I've played the Bengals multiple times in the past so probably not them. Mahomes just seems like too easy mode but maybe. Don't really care for the Bills or Ravens.

Houston doesn't have anyone good to throw to but a lot of draft picks could be easy to draft a good WR.

Panthers have some tools, Thielen and Sanders will be useful for a couple years until Young is hopefully an MVP level player.

Pittman and Taylor are easily the best weapons of the three teams though. I'm surprised Taylor is only an 89 though. If I do pick the Colts I'd probably bump him up a bit, I think he shouldn't have slid that much based on one injured season. Richardson has better throw power and is faster which are pretty sweet, especially with how good running QBs are in these games.

Overall just from my quick thinking I'm leaning Colts > Panthers > Chiefs but we'll see. I'll have to look at Richardson and Young some more to see if they're playable.
