I miss the days when Madden was an annual zero-hour purchase for me. I still have memories of camping at Software Etc to pick up my copy while a pizza party ensued.

I have finally reached that stage with Madden where I am going to wait and see. I purchased Madden 23 on the day of release. I was not happy. I'll wait for some patches to come out and iron those post-launch bugs out.

If history has proven anything with EA is you'll be getting it in 2024 after they patch the hell out of it....the last one I waited for was the Mike Vick cover.

I have the standard PS5 disc version pre ordered. However I will be moving in my son to college in Raleigh NC that entire weekend.

So once we return we will start our Madden 24 All Pro Slider test franchise!

I actually loved the gameplay on the beta. It was the first time since my all time favorite Madden 16 that I felt player movement and tackling went to a far more realistic place. So I have a lot of excitement.

Plus I love the fact they added all those killer XP/development/regression sliders and contract restructuring (huge addition imo for long term franchise play).

I feel like this will be a great cycle for Madden football. I was one who enjoyed 23 a lot…..we had a hiccup mid cycle and then things got squared away after the Madden Bowl (seems like a pattern with this game).

24 feels like a true next gen Madden as far as player movement and tackling as well as WR/DB interactions, OL blocking at the first and second level.

Still other areas of the game need to catch up (I am talking to you penalty sliders and simulation injury slider as well as a robust network inspired presentation package both on the field and off inside franchise and for the draft).

Looking forward to August 22nd when we will commence our stream marathons testing the game out in franchise mode!

I'd agree with this. Player movement definitely was improved. They nerfed four man pass rush a bit too much, but blitzing seems to work a bit better. If sliders work, gameplay will be the best it has ever been.

I have never taken a day off for Madden, now that I think about it. It's always been either a 'buy at release and play like crazy during the ensuing weekend' or 'ahh let's get'err when prices drop in October/November' type of game for me. The last Madden I loved was Madden 2005; it's always felt like a watered down football game ever since, to me, compared to what it could be (or, should I say, should be). The last time I took time off for a video game was for Halo Reach back in 2010.

I’ve decided I’m only buying 24 if I find a solid online franchise to join or later once the price drops. I didn’t see enough out of the reviews of the beta to change my mind. I like how 23 plays but solo franchise is just lacking any drama that isn’t self created. So if I find a well ran online group I’ll reconsider.

I've been playing Madden 23 since launch until, well now, and have not had any issue. I do not play franchise though if that is what you are referring to.

Can't say I'm going to be rushing to fire Madden up too quickly. I want to give the modding community time to get going. I'll probably fire it up to get my progression sliders up, and then set it aside for a while. Between Baldur's Gate III and Starfield, my gaming time is going to be pretty well spoken for until well into the season.

Can't say I'm going to be rushing to fire Madden up too quickly. I want to give the modding community time to get going. Wow you don't play franchise, Dogg? I thought EVERYONE played franchise.

I used to, I love franchise, but the problem I had was that I would get into it, then the new game would come out and I'd lose all my progress!

I may have to check it out again this year since they've upgraded it, I haven't played in 2 or 3 years.

They really need to allow us to carry over our progress to the new game each year, then I'd be super hardcore into it!!

LOL, it sure does...do people not take days off from work anymore for game releases though, or are you referring to the folks talking about the old days of Gamestop tourneys, midnight releases, etc?

I can't tell a lie, I think about taking off but I never do. I might stay up until midnight (I'm pretty much exclusively digital now) then play one short game and resume after work that evening.

I've got 31, but I put it aside after briefly checking out Patch 9 to wait for the full release. I've got ChatGPT running a game for me right now.
