How long are your quarters and how are your players comparing to the rest of the leag

I play all madden default. 15 min quarters 10 sec acc clock. Trying to get a realistic amount of plays.

12 games in I am 6-6 with the Vikings. (It’s been a steep learning curve) but my problem is I have a top 5 offense and the worst defense. Which I know is exactly how the real Vikings were last year.

When I look at the league stats though my qb is outpacing the total yards by 500 yards? Like he has over 3500 yards passing and Mahomes is sitting under 3000.

I tried to balance this by playing 6 min qtrs last night with 25 sec acc clock (default clock) and I beat the bears 33-29. Another shootout? In 6 min qtrs. Kirk threw for 349 yards on 25 passes.

    What is the solution here?

Idk if it was the changed time length that caused the explosion of big plays or what. I just want to play an NFL sim and have my stats compete with the rest of the league. Any solutions? It feels like this year Madden definitely decided to cater to the casual gamer bc every play is like 15 yards and drives rarely go more than 10 plays. It was not like this for me last year.

Is everyone else having the same problems?
Have you found anything that works for you?

9 mins with no accelerated clock on Madden 23 gave you roughly 120 plays per game which is NFL average.

On Madden 24 QB completion percentage seems lower (and more realistic). This means the clock stops more. Using 9 minutes in Madden 24 seems to now provide slightly above average plays per game. I’m waiting to start my franchise when the draft bug is fixed and week to rosters drop. Think with all of the above 8
Mins per Quarter and no accelerated clock will be realistic.

Plays per game is actually 153 on average. Not 120.

Every week, officials take the field ready to put months of preparation, training and hard work on display, knowing that the whole world — and the Officiating Department — is watching.

Each NFL game averages around 153 plays. Game officials are typically accurate on 98.9% of calls.

Thanks. I’m going to attempt 12 mins 15 sec acc clock tonight. And try to raise the speed parity.

When I played my 6 min Qtr game the game was super choppy. Something I hadn’t noticed before.

Even if we get the right plays per game it won’t matter if every play averages 20 yards. I think the lack of defense and actually having to punt the ball is the difference between madden and the real nfl.

Holy cow...is that including every time the ball is snapped and kicked? I know that 120 number comes from plays from scrimmage (where typically only rush and pass plays are counted). If you added in punts, fg, kickoffs, etc....yeah, it'd probably creep closer to 150-160.

Everything I google suggests 120-125 plays. I’m not saying your wrong. I’m just saying there is no way i would want to have a 153 plays in a game of madden. I would hit triple digits haha.

The 153 would be all plays: Offensive Plays, plus Punts, PAT Attempts, Kickoffs, etc.

Those plays are offensive snaps only it appears. I just picked a couple of random teams off the list and then went and looked at their average rush attempts and pass attempts per game and they were all within 1.0 of the total plays per game. Considering all teams pretty much punt between 3-5 times per game, for it to match within 1 seems like it may be excluding punts at the very least.

I haven't yet tested, but last year I tried to get as many plays per game as the simmed stats, rather than NFL, although they were pretty close. In general, simming seasons resulted almost exactly 120 offensive plays per game (sometimes 119). I got pretty close with 10 min. no accel. clock. But i had a very high completion percentage, as did the CPU. There are more incomplete passes this year, it seems. So I'm thinking I may go down to 8 or 9 minute quarters, no accelerated clock. But I haven't experimented yet.

Sounds like your problem is more that you and the cpu rarely have to punt the ball and are scoring nearly every drive. Find a way to increase 3 and outs and punts and your stats will be a lot more realistic. You may need to use house rules to limit yourself which sucks.

Yeah. I hate house rules. I just had a great game against the Raiders. 12 min acc clock 15 sec and I lost 28-24 on default all madden. Only change I made was changing the speed parity to 95. I’m going to roll with this. I had two defensive stops in the 4th Qtr but my offense just couldn’t score to win it in the end. IMG_1043.jpg

Now these stats might be a little high but I can live with it.

I’ve been running 15 mins 14 run off.

Suprisingly I’ve done a fantastic job at keeping everything from getting wonky.

Plays are ranging from 65-76 plays per team

I was super impressed in 2 games I’ve held the cpu to 13 points or less.

Punt the ball, make them punt the ball. My only house rule typically is play as they would play in real life. If I have a 10 point lead and ball in my territory 4th & short and I know I could cheese a freebie first down to extend drive. Coaches aren’t doing that. Punt the ball play field position and control momentum.

Long winded but 15 mins w 14 run off work well. And I actually try to build methodical drives. Each drive I have a goal of atleast 8 plays.

Unless the stars align pre- snap and maybe a play I called looks like big shot vs coverage.
