Not sure how EA wrote the script. From what I can remember, they made it where they won't draft a QB in the first round. Not sure if it means they won't go in the second.

Re: Madden 24 scouting guide for anyone struggling

I wanted to give my feedback, as I just finished a draft using these tips. I ended up tagging 49 players to keep an eye on, and 30 of those 49 ended up having a dev trait. And of the 19 that didn't, 12 of them had an Ovr of 70 or higher. So only 7 or so players I'd consider disappointing out of 49, that's pretty good.

I personally drafted 9 players, 3 with Normal, 5 with Star (including one in the 5th Rd and one in the 6th), and 1 with Superstar (in the 4th Rd, a 74 OVR FB who I'm happy about).

That's amazing, I am glad the tips still hold after all the updates EA has put out.

It's the players you think that are absolute slam dunks that sometimes get you. My most recent draft I had a Center check every box and then some. Elite strength, change of direction, top 5 in strength, A pass block, yet was a normal dev [emoji1751]

He had a high overall of 75. So I chalk up guy like him as a player with raw intangibles, just need to be coached up. I'll give him until the end of his rookie deal to get to at least a star.

In the past the way I would avoid this was to edit the overall of young QBs by increasing their awareness. I haven't done it this year and I have seen some weird QB moves. The Dolphins had an 85 ovr QB and drafted a QB in the first round. I took over the Dolphins and traded their 85 ovr QB. The one thing I will say about their logic for drafting is that particular QB got worse statistically every year even though his rating increased. If production is built into the logic that would be pretty cool.

Great write up! I'm playing as the niners, which means I've got to hit on those "value picks " so this really helps. Does this guide basically confirm that news stories don't matter? Also seems like scouting pre combines/pro days don't matter as much!

Never paid attention to the news stories honestly.

You are right, I don't even bother scouting until all the information is available. This helps having to waste time going back and fourth, just jump in there after the combine/pro day and start racking up the favorites.

I have gotten to the point where I don't even have to favorite anymore. I can skim through the available players, and point out who's good or not. I miss, but about 75% of the time im right on the money. Gives me a good range of when to trade down, or out of that round if there is no one worth it.
