I dont know what Madden uses to trigger penalties, but penalties will never be resolved until they add each penalty in the game as a rating in each individual player.

They need those ratings for each player to trigger certain animations that could result in a penalty. If they dont you'll never get a balanced game with penalties.

I assume your joking fr. I think the online crowd should have the competitive setting locked and it should include the game as is with no penalties, injuries, etc for their arcade competitions/tournaments. The SIM crowd should get franchise locked at simulation with sliders that work and can be adjusted but that's just wishful thinking. I believe in duece giving us a deeper franchise as far as options and off field work, but the rest of the staff......enjoy the check and live yall best life.

This game is made for tournaments and that doesn't help the sim crowd. We don't purchase window dressing for a 20 year franchise and we don't buy mut cards to get better players. We draft, upgrade, trade, workout/training camp, scheme fit, customize playcalls, etc. This game is not made to work for us and they could care less. We are only off the shelf buys for EA while the others bring in millions for window dressing on a broken football game. It's comical at this point for any trying to even say the word sim unless they are trolling

I don't think you would need to have specific ratings for penalties. You could just link specific attributes to penalties. Offensive holding could be tied to all blocking ratings and awareness. DPI could be tied to coverage ratings and awareness. This has been done in the past with reasonable execution.

Right,I mean they do still have penalty traits for each player so in theory an offensive lineman with undisciplined should be triggering holding calls more often.

            Worth sharing I think:

On a whim I put roughing the passer at 75 and have kept it there for a few games. Obviously I’m getting a lot of that call. What I found interesting is that they seem to occur at a reasonable rate (and on reasonably “close” plays) with respect to defensive penalty calls in general: PI, D-holding, facemask, etc.

Basically every time I get a RTP penalty I just mentally chalk it up to “penalty on the defense” and suddenly the frequency of RTP calls stopped bothering me in the slightest. In other words, since we barely ever get DPI, D-holding, facemasks, late-hit-out-of-bounds, offsides, etc. etc., the defenses getting hit with 5 or 8 RTP calls really does feel just fine and becomes indistinguishable from a standard defensive performance, if you follow.

Call it a workaround I guess, but point is, there ya go — now you can easily get 5-8 penalties per side just like that.

            Cheers.
            Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

I have done the same. I play with almost all the penalties at 75 and I'm getting good penalty numbers in my franchise. I have 70 penalties for 521 yards in 13 games which is 20th in the league in my cfm.

If you fake snap with false start at 75 you will randomly get false starts. False start and roughing are probably 90% of the penalties I get. Every now and then I'll get holding, DPI, facemask, or block in the back. It's lame that penalties aren't dialed in but the rest of the game plays well.

To piggyback off of this, I also have holding set at 99(iirc) and I also set the blocking in "coach adjustments" to aggressive, this will at times trigger holding...but what really sucks about this workaround is the cpu barely if ever gets called for a penalty.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

It's still ridiculous that the basically took the penalties out. They know what they did and its not an oversight. I just don't get it though. Why?

If its an issue with the MUT crowd or whatever fine, but for give us the option. Thats what EA gets so much flak every year. They always do something that boggles the mind.

FTR, M24 plays great on the field but I just couldn't justify the purchase since they left out a very important and realistic part of football.

I'm on the PC and I get penalties. I get three or four penalties a game, which is plenty for me. If you're not getting any then something is wrong, you should be getting some.

I 100% agree. I skipped this year and will not buy again unless I see on this board that penalties are back.

Yes, something is wrong. EA essentially removed penalties for console players begging with the December title update of M21.

what is really frustrating about this whole thing is that no one at EA has the guts to address this for years. I mean, give ANY sort of acknowledgment or statement. The complete silence on it (unless I missed it) is just insulting.

I agree would be nice to know why. it should not hurt to have penalties sliders work to have as many or as few we want.

A few years ago Clint (I believe) said two things about penalties. I paraphrase:

                              1) they want to do them right when they do them. They want corresponding animations in replay mode to show what caused the penalty. They did add a few animations for a few penalties, but the majority go uncalled and untouched. My guess is that they can never convince the powers that be to spend any time or budget $$ in this area. I am sure in house it is not considered a big bang for the buck in a yearly cycle.

                              2) the online/tournament crowd does not want penalties, or pretty much anything that they cannot control, to dictate the outcome of a game. In tourney mode, there is a lot of money at stake. They don't want to feel like the game cheated them by having a non controlled cpu player commit a penalty that may cost them points, or the game.

That's what I took away from what he said. Of course, the big question is, why do some of the penalty sliders not work when you raise or lower them, and others do?

They pretty much have a half baked cake right now. Whether they ever get the green light to finish the job is unknown.
